Player(s): 1 Platform(s): PC Today we have unique game concept doubling as an adult visual novel. Glare1More is a word entry game where you help a robot maid discover the truth about the world she has woken up in. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect with a text entry game, as it isn’t a format I have seen often. This game utilized it in a really cool way to simulate a relationship. The game begins when Glare, a personal robot assistant, arrives at your door with no explanation to why she has been delivered. The heroine is a take on the tsundere type. She is suspicious of your intentions as a single man ordering a cute female faced robot. Make one wrong move and she plans to kill herself and take you with her. You will have to gain her trust by creating situations for her to learn about her environment and you. There is not much that can be said without spoiling major plot points, so just know the story leans into science fiction tropes. The story moves forward by requesting Glare search words that have been mentioned in conversation. This is an interesting gameplay idea since it makes it feel conversational. While some main plot points will be highlighted for you to enter most will have to be picked up in the dialogue. Take note of any words that are repeated more than once. There is a hint function to help you out if you get stuck to keep the story moving. You are also able to stumble on many side conversations that flesh out your relationship with Glare, so take the time to play around with it! The system felt streamlined, but there was room to run into problems. You are able to scroll through the previous text easily to search for keywords, but if you mistype a word she will not understand. For example, in my run through the longest pause was when I overlooked the hyphen in the word “e-mail” and spent 5 minutes scouring the conversation for another clue. You do not need spaces or commas with the keywords, but you can include spaces if you prefer it. The game uses Live2D to give the character model a sense of motion. I think this works well during most of the game, but when it is used in the adult CGI scenes toward the end of the game it looks awkward. For example, the panning shot that begins the adult scene pans over Glare’s skirt that look like it has lungs of its own. Her clothes kind of look like writhing piles of white organs. But hey, maybe that is your thing. It is one route story with only one ending. My run through only took about an hour and a half, but they do include an April Fools Side Story and an additional, alternate adult scene in the CGI+ section that can be completed after the main story. Glare1More is worth picking up if you are looking for a quick visual novel. The the way they simulate conversation made it feel more immersive than many dating sims I have played. The heroine is cute, though completely standard tsundere. The plot is trope-y, but enjoyable. If you like sci-fi slice of life, cute maid robots, and a simple love story this would be a nice way to spend an evening. -Emily You can pick up “Glare1More” here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/834150/Glare1more/ Story: B+ Graphics: B Value: B+ OVERALL: B+ Pros: + Unique Gimmick + Cute Story Cons: - Live2D gives the adult scenes an uncanny valley effect. - One route, one ending.
