Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam Roguelites seem to be releasing at a near-constant rate these days, and it takes a lot to really make one stand out in a crowded genre. Enter Starward Rogue, a roguelite game that adds in twinstick shooter elements, and bullet hell gameplay that is more than a little reminiscent of the Touhou series. It previously was a smash hit on Steam, and it recently got a console release from publisher Klabater. We're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version today, but it's available on all the major consoles. We're probably going to end up going on a lot of runs to get through this review, so let's just dive right into it. By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam It's not often when I'm at a complete loss as to how to describe a game, but Rough Justice '84 mixes together so many genres and gameplay elements that it's difficult to give it a single label. I guess that it's a strategy game, but it's also very heavily inspired by board games and even has even has some RPG elements thrown in for good measure. It's recently released on consoles following an earlier release on Steam, and I'll be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch port for this review. Seeing as it came out just days before Christmas (yes, this review is late!), we'll check out if this is the gift we've been waiting for, or a lump of coal better left at the bottom of our stockings. Square Enix just announced that Dragon Quest Builders, the first game in the popular block-building role-playing series, is launching February 13 on PC via Stean! Details on this release, and the Dragon Quest Builders series in general, can be found below!

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PC Anomaly Agent is a cyberpunk action-platformer with an emphasis on fluid, combo-rich, combat and a story that involves a lot of time-shattering elements. It comes to us by way of Phew Phew Games, and has a retro-inspired graphic style that is definitely pleasing to the eye, but also with enough new bells and whistles that it isn't stuck in the past. It's out now on the Nintendo Switch, XBox, and PC, and we're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version to see what makes this game stand out from others in a rather crowded genre. These time and space anomalies aren't going to fix themselves, so let's get right into it! We at A-to-J Connections have been trying to expand our horizons when it comes to our interviews at events and conventions, and this one is quite a bit different than the ones we usually do. No stranger to conventions, Lemar "The Con Guy" Harris has hosted several interactive panels at conventions across the country, and can often be found at karoake and comedy events. He's graced the legendary stage at the World Famous Comedy Store, and has been featured at conventions like Kawaii Kon, Level Up Expo, Anime Expo, and Anime Los Angeles. He's also taken part in several TTRPG streams including The Imitative Order, New Age Geeks, Creators Assemble, Open Circuit Studios, Guild Superior, FaeWildnOut, and many more. We caught up to him at Anime Los Angeles recently, and we discussed his start in the convention scene, his TTRPG history, and some of his thoughts regarding playing versus DMing. This is an interview you don't want to miss, so read on and be sure to check out his social media via the links at the end!

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PC There have been several survival horror games that harken back to 90s aesthetics lately, and there is quite a bit of that in the game we'll be looking at today. Devil Inside Us: Roots of Evil is a story-focused horror game that comes to us by way of the two-man team known as Mr.Skull Game Studio, and published by QUByte Interactive. It's out now on consoles, following an earlier release on Steam, and it sees you take on the unlikely role of an old priest who must bring an end to the titular Evil. A somewhat strange premise, but the devil is in the details after all, so let's dive into it! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: PC Blood West is a first person shooter that has more than a little stealth and RPG elements thrown in for good measure. It also wears its influences proudly and looks like FPS games of the 90s, while playing more than a little like the classic game Thief. If this crazy mix wasn't already enough, it also has a "Weird West" setting, and that means that it also edges into survival horror territory. It released into Steam Early Access back in 2022, but it recently got a full release in December. We're going to take a look at it and see if this is an adventure worth going, or if you're best hitting the trail and leaving it behind. Let's get into it! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC Kickback Slug: Cosmic Courier is a physics-based avoidance platformer that recently released on the Nintendo Switch, following an earlier release on Steam. It takes the physics part of its gameplay very seriously, and it’s probably this fact that also makes it quite the difficult game at times. Thankfully it's a very silly one too. We'll get to all that in due course, but we need to get this intro out the way first. It's time to see if you have what it takes to become an interstellar delivery person for a little company called LOL, or if you even want to be. Let's get right into it! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam We've all seen those types of games on various platforms during our time as gamers: the "_____ Simulator" games. Electrician Simulator is one of those of course, and it seeks to put you into the shoes of an electrician. It's developed by Take IT Studio!, who have also brought us Car Mechanic Simulator and Thief Simulator. It recently got a new DLC update (titled "Smart Devices"), and in honor of that update, we'll be taking a look at it on the Nintendo Switch. While that's the platform I'll be playing it on, it's currently available on just about every major platform to speak of, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting your hands on it if you so desire. Do you desire that though? Well, let's take a look at the game and find out! By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4 What do you get when you mix a puzzle game with a tycoon-esque city-building simulation? You get Train Valley 2: Community Edition! Cheesy article opening aside, this unique game recently released on consoles following a Steam release that stretches all the way back to 2018. Seeing as it's quite a bit of time following that initial debut, this version tosses in just about every bit of content that has released over the years all in one neat digital package. Is this odd mix of genres worth your time though? That's the real question, and one that I hope to answer in this review. Let's take a look together and find out! |
