Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 5, PC It seems like I've reviewed a lot of horror-themed games recently, and I guess that makes sense considering that we're moving fast into the spoopy season. The Mortuary Assistant is a game whose reputation precedes it, and it's the one that we're going to be looking at today. Originally released on PC back in 2022, it's now available on most current consoles. We're going to be looking at the Nintendo Switch version here, and see if its reputation is well-earned, or all hype. There's a lot to cover in this one, so let's dive right in! By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC When I heard that there was a retro-inspired game in the works that combined Metroidvania and soulslike elements in a dark fantasy setting, I just knew that I had to play it. To that end, I followed the development of Skelethrone: The Chronicles of Ericona (Which I'm going to refer to simply as "Skelethrone" from now on.) for about a year, and I counted down the days to when it finally received a full release. That wait is over, and it's available now on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. We're going to be taking a look at the Switch version today, and find out if the game was everything I hoped it would be. Considering how long I had to wait for this moment to finally arrive, I think I can be forgiven for cutting the intro short. Let's dive right into this one! By Teepu Players: 1
Platforms: PlayStation 5 The world of gaming has changed significantly since I was a child. 3D platformers were a dime a dozen, and you never ran out of games to play in the genre. These days we get the occasional great indie release, and then the once a generation 3D Mario from Nintendo. Team Asobi then came around and released a cute and short game to show off the PS5’s capabilities called Astro’s Playroom for the console’s launch. I had no expectations of receiving a full game from them, yet here we stand, with the full release of Astro Bot for the PlayStation 5. By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC This is going to be one of the strangest reviews I've ever written, and it's for reasons I don't want to give away too early. We'll get to why I'm opening this all cryptically later, but some intros are in order first. NanoApostle is a boss rush game with Souls-like elements that was recently released on the PC and Nintendo Switch by way of publisher PQube. It's a game that wears its insane difficulty on its sleeve, and it's also one that made me question how I write reviews in general. Don't worry, I'll quit being vague soon, but I wanted to paint an accurate picture of what you're going to see in this review. Anyhow, we're going to be looking at the game on the Nintendo Switch, and we're just going to jump right into it without any further intro. By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 Everyone loves a good farming game, but what about one that throws zombies into the mix? I actually reviewed a game that tried out that exact thing not too long ago called Farm For Your Life (A review which you can find HERE), and I was surprised to see that there is another one in the form of ZombFarm. I'm starting to wonder if this is actually a sub-genre I'm totally unfamiliar with. Anyhow, ZombFarm is a farming game with zombies that's out now on all major consoles by way of publisher EastAsiaSoft. We're going to be taking a look at the game on the Nintendo Switch today, though I'm sure it'll be indicative of the experience in the other versions. How well does it mix together those two gameplay formulas that seem miles apart? Read on to find out! By Manuel Players: 1-2
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC Retroware has released and/or announced several highly anticipated games recently (Can't wait for that Toxic Crusaders game!), including the amazing Prison City which dropped late last year. Their games can mostly be seen as throwbacks to classic console titles, and Iron Meat falls neatly into that category. Filled to the brim with gameplay elements made popular in the Contra series, it's available now on just about every major platform. We're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version today, and see if it's more than a simple homage to greatness. There's a lot to go over in this one, so let's dive right in! Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 I've been in love with the Creepy Tale series ever since I reviewed the third game, Ingrid Penance last year. (A review you can find HERE) Since then I've played the first two games, and have been eagerly awaiting more. For those that aren't familiar with it, it's a series that mixes point-and-click adventure gameplay with macabre fairy tale aesthetics. Creepy Tale: Some Other Place (Which I'm going to simply refer to as "Some Other Place" from now on.) is the latest game in the series, and is set to arrive on consoles very soon by way of publisher Sometimes You. We're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version today, but I'm sure the differences across the various releases will be minimal at best. This is definitely going to be a weird one, so let's dive right in! By JT Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PC Developed by Studio Plane Toast, Caravan SandWitch is an open world game that promises a relaxing experience, a captivating narrative, and maybe even a good message to go along with everything else. It's out now on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC. We're going to be looking at the PC version today. By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC There's been a recent rush of nostalgia for mid-90s PlayStation era graphics and games, and I'm totally here for it. This nostalgia extends not only to the rough-around-the-edges look of early 3D graphics, but also to gameplay mechanics that might seem archaic to modern gamers. Specifically there's been an influx in retro-themed survival horror titles that seek to capture the magic of the original Resident Evil and Silent Hill games. Enter Plastomorphosis, a game that recently dropped onto consoles, following an earlier release on Steam. We're going to be taking a look at it on the Nintendo Switch, and see if this game is worth playing in today's gaming landscape. There's a lot to discuss in this one, so let's ditch the intro and dive right in! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch Roguelikes are quite possibly one of the most crowded genres in video games these days, but have you ever heard of a pachinko-themed roguelike? Well, that's exactly what developer Red Nexus Games claims to deliver in Peglin. Peglin is a roguelike game that sees you launch balls to complete turn-based RPG combat, and it recently arrived on the Nintendo Switch. We're going to be taking a look at that release today, and maybe even discuss the game's origins as well later on in the review. There's a lot going on in this one, so let's dive right in! |
