Platforms: PC (via Steam) With "Survivors" becoming an active genre since the release of Vampire Survivors, we now have Yet Another Zombie Survivors which is now available in Steam Early Access. No story, at least nothing tangible, just get dropped into the middle of a city and survive for 20 minutes. Will the grand scope of things eventually turn into something more than just another Survivors game? The foundation is there, the characters are there, and so are the possibilities for many set-pieces to be added. It’s in the name though, Yet Another Zombie Survivors. Let’s see how this stacks up in its current form… By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PC Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles is a new collection from NIS that rounds out the Rhapsody series with the two sequels we never got in the US. The two-game package includes Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess, which follows Cornet's daughter Kururu, and Rhapsody III: Memories of Marl Kingdom, which features five smaller stories that round out and conclude various story aspects of the first two games. These games originally released on the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 respectively and they're now arriving on the PS5, Switch, and PC. I previously reviewed the first part of the collection HERE, and now we're going to dive into Rhapsody III: Memories of Marl Kingdom and see if what the Rhapsody series needed all along was an episodic story structure! Well, we're going to be answering that very question right now by taking the initiative and diving into each game separately, starting with Rhapsody II. Also, if you're curious as to where the first game is, it's found on the NIS Classics Volume 3 collection. Our review of that game can be found HERE. Anyhow, let's get into the adventures of Princess Pumpkin Pants! Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten's release is just a few weeks away and NIS recently released a new character trailer in anticipation of this! Check it out below and dive into the world of Utawarerumono again early next month!

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, XBox, PC Moving Out 2 is the sequel to 2020's Moving Out and you can grab it on all major consoles and PC. Both games are described as "moving simulation games", but are something like puzzle platformers, with an emphasis on multiplayer/party style gameplay. Does the game surpass expectations set by the success of the first game? Is its multiplayer as fun, chaotic, and random as we've come to expect? Can you move a TV without breaking it? I'll try to find answers to all these questions, so let's dive into the game! Jirard Khalil, better known as "The Completionist", is a content creator who rose to popularity by 100% competing each game he plays. Beyond this main creative endeavor, he's also part of The Super Beard Bros. and has collaborated with many other YouTubers over the years. He can be seen all over the internet in various capacities and we were lucky enough to catch up to him recently at FanimeCon in San Jose! We discussed his start on YouTube, how he sets himself apart from other content creators, his ability to balance so many different projects at once, and lots more! Fans of Jirard, or those finding out about him for the first time, will want to read on and maybe check out some recent Completionist videos via the links at the end!

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PC Mondealy is an adventure game with a retro 2D aesthetic that claims to be inspired by games like Undertale, Oneshot, and Stardew Valley. I know two of those games, and even though I think the inspirations from Stardew Valley are kind of light, the game borrows a lot of the vibes from Undertale. Now Mondealy isn't an RPG, but it does feature a large cast of characters that inhabit a fantasy world very different from our own. Seeing as it's now available on the Nintendo Switch, XBox, and PC, we're going to dive into the game and see if the world of Dargratt (yeah, Mondealy is the name of the human world!) is one you're going to want to visit this summer! Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, XBox Creepy Tale: Ingrid Penance is an adventure game that recently got a console release following its initial debut on PC. It's not a standard adventure game though and features a very creepy tale (see what I did there?) involving a young girl's attempt to literally escape Hell itself. With a premise like that there's bound to be a lot to cover, so let's just drop to the underworld ourselves to check it out. Let's all join Ingrid on her spooky, and very deadly, journey! Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, XBox A shooter with mild RPG upgradable elements? Well, we might just have one here. Astro Flame: Starfighter is a new 3D shooter that recently dropped on consoles and mixes standard shooter gameplay with the ability to upgrade just about every piece of your ship. It features 15 levels, each with their own boss, of space shooting nonsense and we're going to dive into it and see if this is one to add to the collection! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: PC (via Steam) Shattered Heaven is a deckbuilding RPG with roguelike elements. That doesn't sound all that unique, but its story-based gameplay really draws players in with a dark fantasy tale complete with Lovecraftian horrors. It's currently in Steam Early access and we're going to take a look at the game as it stands now and see if this is one to grab now, wait until its full release later this year, or even just keep an eye on in general. Let's get into it. |
