Platforms: PC What's this? An action roguelike game that brings something new to the table? I didn't think it was possible, but Champion Shift does exactly that. I've actually been following the development of Champion Shift since it was first announced a year ago, and I'm glad to finally have the chance to play it. Having released into Early Access earlier this year, it recently got its full release back in June. We're only a little late to the party, as we're going to be taking a look at it today. There's a lot to cover in this one, so let's get right into it! By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: PC Not that long ago I took a look at a recently-released visual novel called Debauched Memories. Even though I didn't feel I needed to play it to enjoy it, I started to wonder what the previous game it was a sequel to was like. That wonder eventually turned to obsession and I just had to play it for my own piece of mine. I also wondered how it was that it had 18+ content, but its sequel didn't. I'm pleased to report that I have now played the game, and I now have all sorts of answers to my questions. It's now time to review a game known as Stolen Memories. Before we go any further, shout out to Aleksey Izimov for providing me with review copies of both games. Let's get right into it! By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: PC It's been a while since we've reviewed a PC-based visual novel here at A-to-J, and I'm pleased to report that it's a streak that ends now! Debauched Memories is the sequel to a game called Stolen Memories, it even was referred to as "Stolen Memories II" in some early press materials. Stolen Memories released back in April, and Debauched Memories just recently launched on Steam. Even though it's a sequel to a game that has lots of 18+ content, and has a title that sort of implies more of the same, it's actually a rather tame experience all things considered. We'll get more into that throughout the review, but I felt that was worth getting out of the way early on for those who might be put off by such content. Anyhow, there's not much more to say as far as intros go, so let's get right into it! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 Shoot'em ups, or shmups as they're also called, aren't exactly known for having strong stories, but the game that we're looking at today sets out to buck that very trend. Cilla is set to arrive soon to all major consoles, and it's a horizontal shooter that has a story that takes center stage. We're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version of the game today, but everything below is going to apply to all versions of the game for the most part. There's a lot to cover in this one, so let's dive right in! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 2D platformers come in all sorts of variety, but the one we're looking at today seems to be targeting a younger gamer than most. Coming to us complete with a cute, 2D storybook aesthetic, Farlands Journey is coming soon to both the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. We're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version of the game today, and see if there's more to it than cute and colorful visuals. There doesn't seem to be much need for an intro in this one, so let's dive right in! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 Every so often a game comes along for review where I'm not sure if even calling it a "game" is correct. I Want To Go To Mars falls exactly into that category, and it's a "game" (Don't worry, we'll get there soon!) that's coming soon to all major consoles. We're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version today, but I'm positive that it'll reflect the experience one will have no matter where they end up playing it. This is going to be a quick one, so let's jump right into it! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC It seems like I open every few reviews with the "roguelike games come out at a near constant pace these days..." opening, and this one quite nearly ended up that way. Dungeon Arsenal is a roguelike card game that recently released on the Nintendo Switch, following a previous release on Steam. Its simple gameplay sees you explore a Tower armed only with a deck of cards. We're going to be taking a look at that new Switch version today, and see if this game has what it takes to stand out in the already crowded roguelike genre. There's no need for further intro here, so let's dive right in! By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC Developed by Pathea Games (My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock), and published by PM Studios, Let's School is a school management game that recently released onto consoles following an earlier release on Steam. Unlike the Pathea's other famous titles, which fall into the cozy life sim genre, Let's School puts you in charge of running a struggling academy, and seeing to the education of dozens of students. Players are able to take on this challenging task on all major platforms, though we're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version today. There's a lot to study up on here, so let's dive right in! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC I don't know how it is that I seem to always end up reviewing the precision platformers that come our way, but I guess I'm back with another one! Adding in physics-based gameplay into the mix, Jello is a game that recently released on the Nintendo Switch following a Steam release last year. We're going to be taking a look at the Switch version today, and see if this is a game that is frustratingly hard in all the right ways. Maybe also figure out how the game managed to get away with using the "Jello" name. Anyhow, there's no point dragging out the intro any more than that, let's get right into it! By Teepu Players: 1
Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch In a world flooded with kinetic visual novels to choose from, it’s always challenging to decide which ones are worth your time. A tale of a town of ghosts trying to find their place and reason for still existing, ghostpia Season One explores a very interesting story that takes you down some interesting twists. |
