That’s a big box. Although the nearly decade long wait for The Last Guardian’s release dwarfs the size of it. I’m just happy to have it in my hands at all. The art of the box itself is reminiscent of many of the crates and barrels in-game. Opening the lid revealed the art book and the metal book case for the game. There was also a bonus sticker set! Gonna need me more Trico stickers in my life. The metal book case opens flat to reveal a full image of the boy being chased by the suits, heading toward Trico. It also contained a DLC code for the soundtrack for the game. The art book was full of drawings and early concept art for the boy, Trico, levels, and items in the game. Trico is so precious. Even had some storyboard-ish stuff on how some sequences would play out. Lifting this first part out of the box revealed the real highlight of the collector’s edition: a statue of a sleeping Trico and the boy. For such a large statue, it was surprisingly light. I love the detail on the feathers and the little whiskers on Trico. Even the boy looks alright, especially for being appropriately scaled to Trico. Now to find a nice display area for it. Stay tuned for a full review of The Last Guardian before Christmas (spoiler alert: I cried a lot)!
