With SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, we thought we were done! Done? There's no meaning of the word here. Jeanne from the World Heroes series, becoming playable now. Well, what can we say? This final character is getting most things right. However, this is still fluff to SNK Heroines. Oh we don't mean fluff as in padding, more like it was needed. With this latest DLC character, it was apparent what the game lacked. Here we have some creativity when it comes to costumes as well as a character who actually has more than one unlockable costume. Besides Miss X that is. Let's take a look at the Jeanne DLC for SNK Heroines! Let's begin with where the origin of this character comes from, because it's more interesting than the base game. Obviously, the character is a play on Joan of Arc, who was actually named Jeanne d'Arc, a 15th century legend. She had also fought in the Hundred Years' War, definitely a good read. The same backstory is sort of retold in SNK's World Heroes series. Jeanne is among one of the favorite characters, appearing in all World Heroes games. She also brings in a different personality opposed to the factual historical figure, entering the World Heroes Tournament to seek out a man. Seeking only a man who can defeat her in combat. Her weapon of choice is also the Whip Sword, being the first fighting game character to even use one. That being said Jeanne should have also been included from the beginning. Her sword and armor go unmatched against other characters' outfits, at least in my eyes. Each costume is dramatically different from each other. While Skullomania and Thief Arthur only have one costume each, Jeanne has three completely distinct outfits. Miss X has three costumes, but it's easy to note that the third is just a buff version compared to the first. It clearly shows that she is among the favorite characters to the development team. Not to compare SNK Heroines to other games, but it still lacks a fully fleshed out roster of heroes. Before adding in any further characters for a price, a suggestion would be to patch in more costumes and artwork. Maybe even more modes and more story arcs. The end credits are still the best artwork by far, but you have to watch it in order to view them. For SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, it should be expected that every other DLC character gets the same treatment as Jeanne. They need more and better designed outfits, plus we should really have more unlockables for them. The need to want to play a game like this still lingers, but it is still far from being a great, or even a good game. Also, the asking price of $5 is steep for only one character. For most people who put this game down soon after playing will feel as if they wasted their money. It's just bad practice. SNK Heroines still disappoints me, but this last character shows at least a little effort in bringing the game to life. -JT For More Info on SNK HEROINES: Tag Team Frenzy: https://nisamerica.com/games/snk-heroines/ Character: A Designs: A Content: D Value: D- Final Verdict: C- Pros: +New and Interesting Costumes. +A character we always feel was left out is finally included. +Minor historic value; if you are into that.
