Atlus oftentimes kills it at the "collector's edition" game, putting most companies to shame without breaking the bank for consumers, and the Persona 5 US collector's edition upholds this tradition. First up, the holding box itself is a gorgeous double-sided art piece, showcasing the main party members of the game. The box has a magnetic seal, holding the goods inside. First up, a small plush of the game's mascot, Morgana. Super cute, but not too large. Perfect for putting on a shelf. Next, a surprisingly large-sized artbook. It's nice to get an artbook with a game that doesn't feel like it's made for ants, so I can actually appreciate the artwork. There's even a short article in the back about the aesthetic design for the game. Then a CD with a selection of tracks from the soundtrack. If you've played other Persona or Shin Megami Tensei games, you know they've got kicking soundtracks, and Persona 5 is no exception. It's also great that it's a physical disk instead of a digital download. This edition came with the steelbook game case, showcasing more wonderful art of the Phantom Thieves. And last, an item I'd love to see more collector's editions have: a replica of the Shujin Academy schoolbag. The lining is even of the plaid pattern used for the uniforms! I anticipate lots of cosplayers using this bag for their cosplay. It's a surprisingly large bag, perfect for storing thieves tools, books, snacks, and whatever hearts you might steal along the way. For only an additional $30 above the base price of the game, this is a startlingly good collector's edition, with genuinely worthwhile items. I hope Atlus continues this trend of great collector's editions for under $100. And check out Nestor's rad showcase video! |
