"Persona 3 Dancing" and "Persona 5 Dancing" Demos Out Now!

With about a month until release, Atlus has launched demos for both Persona 3 Dancing In Moonlight and Persona 5 Dancing In Starlight on the PlayStation 4. Each demo contains a couple songs, allowing players to get a taste of the gameplay early!

The demos play similarly to the PlayStation Vita Persona 4 Dancing All Night game: there are stationary button symbols along the edge of the screen, and players have to tap and hold buttons down as beat symbols fly towards these stationary ones. Sometimes, optional scratch rings will fly by; hitting them by flicking a control stick will gain extra points, missing them won’t break a combo. In the background, characters dance around. Hit enough special fever scratch rings, and a secondary character will come and do a duet dance sequence. The music is catchy, being remixes of some of the bigger hits from Persona 3 and Persona 5. The UIs are very much stylized to match their respective franchise entries, complete with sound effects. 

A big difference in these new games from Persona 4 Dancing seem to be the handling of any story elements. The demos didn’t delve too deep into whatever the games’ respective stories might be, but they seem to split the game very distinctly between dance stages and Social, where I assume any story bits will be shown. On the flip side Persona 4 Dancing was surprisingly story driven, with the dancing and the story woven together. However, features like alternate costumes and gameplay modifiers do seem to be returning, if missing from the demo. 

If you enjoy the Persona franchise and rhythm games, the Persona Dancing games are very very fun and I highly recommend at least trying the demos out, if not picking up the games when they launch.

Persona 3 Dancing In Starlight and Persona 5 Dancing In Moonlight will be released December 4th, exclusively on PlayStation 4. A special edition containing Persona 3 Dancing, Persona 5 Dancing, and an exclusive PlayStation 4 version of Persona 4 Dancing All Night will be available as well.
