Marriage Is A Mistake: Magical Marriage Lunatics!! Review (18+)

​Hello! Rikachuuable here. It’s been a while. If you haven’t gotten tired of my reviews just yet, I’m ready to share with you another game! This time around, we’re playing to win the heart of a girl with a pure heart (albeit in a lewd game) while two worlds collide for the ultimate fantasy love story experience. “Magical Marriage Lunatics!!” Or “マジカル マリッジ ルナティクス!!” Is a visual novel type game where your choices determine the outcome with one of the following girls. Each girl has their own romantic route to pursue, but I’m sure all of you already knew that as that’s usually how this goes. Developed by Moonstone, it is one of the longest games I have played for A-to-J Connections yet.

The game is paired with an incredibly packed storyline as it features a solid 6 character route option. Though the storyline is fairly confusing, I would like to believe that the typical amnesia and/or hidden memories theme brings an element of fun and mystery to the gameplay when five of the six girls are from another world. I would definitely recommend not multitasking while playing the game if you are one to do that, as missing a single scene, line, or element of the game could make you confused for days and having to reload or scroll back a few lines.

With six girls to choose from, there’s really a lot happening, I don’t know where to begin or where to stop and highlight the storyline. The six girls, as followed, are all representative of a different “race”. Julia, a pure girl with a tempting existence as a half-succubus with a succubus mother and a human father. Yuna is a human, and an idol who is too precious for this world, or anyone really. Karin is a tenko, who has previous beef with Luci, the vampire princess. Following those four are Luluna, a ghost, and Yorihime, a goddess. Now while some of the girls’ storylines are clashier and invoke more events, they are all just as sweet and entertaining. The storyline is just fairly long, as it does have the generic addition of school life friends, a sudden background story of clashing between the two realms, and male classmate fan wars over “best girl”. 

At the beginning, I couldn’t figure out what was happening with the storyline in the common route. The days kept repeating and although they were just slightly different, it made me feel a little stressed as I could feel the deja vu creeping in. But when I finally got around to solidifying my character routes, it wasn’t too bad. I definitely think some routes are more entertaining than others, but I have a preference and type so I’ll stick to talking about those.  

After finally catching the drift of a storyline route, I went through the Yorihime route first, Yuna second, and then the others after (Did I just expose my type to you all? Yes I did). The events that made up the passing time were fairly interesting though. Some of the scenes that focused a lot on the different worlds and realms were fairly confusing though, I don’t understand entirely why it’d be necessary to include all those scenes as it makes the gameplay longer, but you’d really have to play the game for yourself to determine if it served its purpose.

For the most part, there’s so much sex and lewd moments that make up for the filler storyline. Along with all that, before I forget, there is an option during gameplay and/or in the settings to pick whether or not you will ejaculate inside of the other during sex. If you’re after the best deal for your money, I’d definitely recommend this full 18+ package. ;)

Although for the most part, the art throughout the game is pretty decent, there’s several aspects of the art throughout gameplay that were too hard for me to look over. The primary ones being the anatomy during sex scenes (Yorihime’s proportions were probably the worst, but the feet for Julia as shown in the next image are just too distracting for me).

Something else that did make me feel a little weird throughout gameplay was the chat log. Paired with odd anatomy every now and again, it felt unnecessary when paired with the over the top voice acting and sounds. Although I understand that the developers were just covering their bases, some lines made me laugh. This isn’t my first rodeo, but pairing the triple threat of sounds, chat logs, and art together made me crack into laughter.

​Some other scenes though weren’t too bad. I did appreciate a couple of sex scenes though. They really add a different level of bonding when you take into consideration the situations and environments they’re putting themselves through for the sake of “closeness”.

All the lewd scenes aside, I think the endings were pretty decent for a conclusion. Although I didn’t get the type of ending I wanted in particular, it was still nice to have a somewhat decent and realistic ending to an otherwise really confusing, all over the book storyline. 

Overall, I would give the game a B- grade.
 
Gameplay/Storyline: The gameplay was too slow for me, and I often found myself confused in the storyline as there were just so many things happening. It was really all over the place, and I had a hard time really piecing everything together even after playing through the same routes 1-3 times.
 
Graphics: The graphics were decent. As I mentioned several times, there’s a lot of hiccups in the anatomy and it threw me off guard. At some point they made it hard for me to concentrate on the storyline and the intimacy between characters.
 
Sound: The music was alright. I did enjoy the voice acting as it was what I expected the characters to sound like for the most part, and the music wasn’t too distracting but it did feel a little over dramatic in some parts. Rather than set the mood, I turned bgm off and raised the volume on my device to hear the VAs better.
 
Value: For $44.95, I would say that it’s worth the price considering all the features added in. You also get uncensored sex scenes which is in my opinion a pretty decent deal for storyline and hentai on top of the preexisting heart strings attached.
