By Al Players: 1 Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC The Street 10 is an odd walking simulator that recently released onto consoles following a previous release on Steam. It sees you walk along a specific Japanese street, and take in the scenery so to speak. It's a very short game, and you can beat it in well under ten minutes once you know what you're supposed to do. Or you can waste tens of minutes going in a continual loop. While time to beat may be a bit up in the air, what is sure is that my writing of this review of will probably take longer than it did for me to "beat" it, so let's get right into it. Gameplay in The Street 10 is very simple; you have to pass through ten "correct" versions of the street in order to get to the game's "ending". That's it, that's the game. How do you tell what is correct though? Well, sometimes you'll see traffic signs that clearly are not real, the traffic lights might be off, the man might be walking on the wrong side of the street, or the man himself could be any number of variants. There are a few other things that can change, but you get the point. If you notice any of these anomalies, you're supposed to turn back and go the way you came. The number on the very first traffic light indicated the number of correct loops you're on, and you know you messed up if it suddenly reverts back to 1. The goal is to get it to ten, complete the last one, and reach the "end" of the game. I don't want to spoil what that ending is, but don't expect too much. Oh, and also don't expect to do anything besides walking in this game. You can technically walk faster, but there's no actions you can take in the game, and the path you take never changes besides the anomalies. I guess my big disappointment was that I kept waiting for something else to happen. Some of the traffic signs and changes in the walking man felt a bit creepy, but nothing ever came of it. I then hoped that the ending would be something odd, maybe even a jump scare, but I didn't get that wish fulfilled either. There's no music, there's very little sounds, and you can see the entire game in a few minutes if you know what you're doing. There's not much to do once you complete it either. Apparently there are leaderboards on the PC version, but I didn't see any of that on the Switch release. I've honestly played worse games, and this one costs a small $2.99 on the eshop, but I don't think I can recommend it. Maybe for the ridiculousness of it? I'm not sure, but don't go into this expecting more than what you see in the few screenshots here. I literally can't think of more to say about it, except that it ran perfectly for what it is, and it had a certain spookiness at first. I guess picking it up or not depends more on how much you value those three dollars. Pros: + Has a pretty spooky atmosphere during the first few loops. + The concept of a repeating street that changes subtly isn't a bad jumping off point. + It runs well, it isn't as horrible as it could be, and it's cheap. Cons: - I know it's a walking simulator, but is it really a game? - There's no music, or much sound even, to keep up those initial spooky vibes. - Nothing actually happens in the game outside of the anomalies, nothing at all. - It's extremely short and can be beaten in 5-10 minutes once you know what is expected of you.
