Capcom Announces New Content for "Monster Hunter: World" with "Iceborne" Expansion and New Quests12/10/2018 With just a few weeks until Monster Hunter: World’s first anniversary, Capcom has announced a slew of new content arriving throughout 2019 to keep millions of hunters, many new to the series, hunting for months to come. The biggest announcement from their December 10th event is for Monster Hunter: World Iceborne. Taking place after the events in World’s storyline, Iceborne finds players further investigating the Elder Crossing. Iceborne will bring new locales, quests, monsters, and gear to World, launching in autumn of 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC release to follow. No details on if the expansion is paid DLC or a free patch have been released at this time. To keep hunters busy in the meantime, Capcom has announced an upcoming collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED for a Witcher themed quest line. Geralt will be coming to the New World, with a promise of “unique quests [that] will offer a brand-new type of gameplay that blends the immersive RPG experience of The Witcher 3 with Monster Hunter: World.” No release window has been announced for this collaboration even, but once again it is expected to hit consoles first, then PC. The Kulve Taroth siege, a 16-player, four teams of 4, group effort to obtain rare loot returns soon as well. During the upcoming siege period, an arch-tempered Kulve will be available, bringing a tougher challenge and yielding greater rewards. On deck as well is an first anniversary event for PlayStation and Xbox players in late January, featuring a specially decorated gathering hub, anniversary events, limited gear, and more! And for those who haven’t yet come into the new world to see what it has to offer, a trial will be available from December 11th through 17th for PlayStation and Xbox. The trial will let players go through 3-star quests and hunter rank 4, with online play available, so new players can get a taste of what hunting is all about. Any progress made during the trial will be transferable to the full game, so new players won’t have to start all over again. It’s good to see Capcom has no plans of killing support for World anytime soon. With millions of units shipped worldwide, World has the potential to be a continually updated game for years to come. Stay tuned for more Monster Hunter news!
