Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 Action platformers are all the rage these days, but what about ones that feature an explorer traversing lost cities in the wilderness? Those might be a bit rarer, and that's exactly what we get in Teppo And The Secret Ancient City, a retro-styled action platformer that is out now for all major consoles and PC. We're going to be taking a look at it now and see if this is a title that you're going to want to add to your collection, or if it's something that's better left unearthed. Without further ado, let's dive in and find out!

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC Colorful, character-driven platformers have seen a resurgence lately, and that boom leads us straight to the game we're going to be looking at today. Coming in at the tail end of 2023 is Paperman: Adventure Delivered, a classic style, collect-a-thon platformer that features four playable characters that all have their own unique abilities. It's out now on just about every major console and PC, and boy do I have a lot to say about it. I don't want to get ahead of the review, but most of what will follow is going to be anything but positive. We're about to jump straight into the deep end here, so let's cut the intro short and get right into it. By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4 It's been a while since we've had the pleasure to look at a twin stick shooter that wasn't also a roguelike, but that changes now with the arrival of Mustache In Hell. Coming to consoles by way of QUByte Interactive, following an earlier release on Steam, it promises action-packed gameplay set literally in Hell. Hopefully that very unique setting doesn't bleed into the gameplay, or we might have quite the game on our hands. We won't know anything until we dive into the game though, so let's get on with it already. Get those mustaches ready! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC Edge of Reality is a visual novel that is currently available on Steam, but coming soon to all major consoles. It's a rather small game, from an equally small development team, but has a few features that make it rather unique. It also has a story and setting that go against the typical anime-related tropes one usually sees in the genre. Seeing as this review is probably going to take longer to write than the game took to beat (more on that later), let's just skip the long intro and get right into it! By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 Jubilee is a hardcore 2D precision platformer that has some slight Metroidvania elements. It's coming to consoles soon by way of Red Art Games, after a previous release on Steam. Tough-as-nails platformers can really be hit or miss as it takes a lot of balancing to keep a game both challenging and fun. Does Jubilee pull off this difficult task? Well, let's get into the review and find out! By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC Konosuba: God's Blessing On This Wonderful World! Love For These Clothes of Desire! (From here on simply referred to as "Konosuba" or "Clothes of Desire") is a visual novel with some light dating sim elements. It originally released in Japan way back in 2020, and it's finally getting an official English-language release courtesy of PQube. As you probably already know, it's based on the isekai anime of the same name, though I am going to be jumping into it with only the barest of knowledge of the franchise itself. While games like this most often attract existing fans of the property they're based on, I think it'll be interesting to see how it appeals to someone who is totally new to everything it has to offer. Anyway, with all that out of the way, let's jump into the world of Konosuba, and see exactly how clothes of all things tie into it! By JT Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo, PC Developed by Blue Firefly Studio, UDO (an acronym for "Unidentified Drilling Object") is a short, but fun, down-scroller roguelike. With an oversized drill you dig your way into the depths, and uncover the mystery of what lies deep underground. There are 4 biomes, with a multitude of upgrades and skins, that give some depth to the game’s mechanics. Skill is always a key asset, and you'll be digging yourself up using your boost, or shooting yourself left or right to tackle and dodge both enemies and fire. More challenging than the game itself was writing this review, as the game is very short. Is UDO worth a try? Is it just another roguelike? Let’s dive into the depths of UDO and find out! Platforms: Nintendo Switch God of Light is a puzzle game that originally saw success on mobile devices before receiving a full remaster a few years back for PC and XBox. That remastered version is now making its way to the Nintendo Switch, and we're going to be taking a look at it today. One might think that a mobile game, remastered or not, isn't worth examining at length, but perhaps God of Light will be the exception to that rule. Whatever the case may be, let's shine a light on what, if anything, makes God of Light stand out in a crowded genre. |
