Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC There are times when it feels as if every game coming out these days adds in at least some roguelike elements in an attempt to make them stand out a bit. Some go at it more heavy-handed than others, but it's an interesting trend in gaming that doesn't seem to be fading any time soon. Enter Operation Steel, a horizontal shooter or shmup that has a few of those aforementioned elements baked in. How does it incorporate them? Do they add anything significant to the game that makes it stand out? Is it a good game in general? We're going to answer all that and more in this review. Let's get into it. By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC The Eerie Surroundings is a continuously looping, spot-the-differences type game that has a horror aesthetic. It's out now on PC and the Nintendo Switch, and we're going to be taking a look at the Switch release today. This is a rather small game, so we're going to dispense with the intros and get right into it! By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC When I saw Fading Afternoon pop up in a press release, I figured that it would be a beat 'em up in the style of River City Ransom. It bears a striking resemblance to that series visually, and many of the screenshots I saw showcased combat that might as well have been lifted from it too. Imagine my surprise when I found that it's only partially that. If anything, it's far more of an RPG type game, with combat thrown in. I'm getting ahead of myself though, so let's back up a bit. Fading Afternoon comes to us by way of the same developer behind The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa and Arrest of A Stone Buddha. Both are games that I've played in the past, and this one almost feels like it closes out a trilogy. Fading Afternoon recently released on the Nintendo Switch, following an earlier release on Steam, and we're going to be taking a look at that Switch version today. There's a lot to cover in this one, so we're just going to dive right in. Be sure to keep up! By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC We've looked at several beat 'em ups here at A-to-J, but not too many that adopt the free-roaming, 3D style fully. Hot Blood does exactly that, and it's out now on most major platforms. (Sorry XBox owners!) We're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version today, and see if this quirky little title is worth adding to your collection. There's an entire zombie invasion to deal with here, so let's dive right in! By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC Mixing together precision and puzzle platforming gameplay, Kingdom's Dungeon Rage recently dropped onto just about every major platform. This quirky little game promises challenges that are near impossible, but what isn't impossible is my ability to review it! We're going to be taking a look at the game on the Nintendo Switch today, though I'm sure it'll be representative of the experience on all other platforms. There's not much else to say within this intro, so let's dive right in! |
