Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC Raising sim games in the style of Princess Maker are something of a rarity in the Western gaming world. The already small niche of a genre sees very few games translated for English-speaking players, so when a title is made available, it's worth looking into. Enter Lair Land Story, a remake/re-release of a PSP/PC game released back in 2007 that is now available on the Nintendo Switch and PC. It comes to us by way of Chinese developer Circle Entertainment, and it's published by PQube. We're going to be taking a look at the Switch release today and see if this game satisfies that rarely scratched itch, and also look at what makes it unique within its relatively small genre. Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC Being a huge fan of puzzle platformers, I was excited when I learned that the game we're going to talk about today falls into that somewhat rare genre. Arriving soon on the Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation consoles is Corbid: A Colorful Adventure. (Hereafter referred to as simply "Corbid".) This game is developed by CuCurry and published by Meridiem Games, neither company being one I've heard of before, but I'm willing to give this a fair go. As its name implies, Corbid is quite the colorful adventure that takes you on several maze-like, puzzle-filed garden adventures. We're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version in this review, and hopefully see if this is a game that's worth picking up. Enough of the intros, let's get right into it. Alice Gear Aegis CS: Concerto of Simulatrix (hereafter simply referred to as "Alice Gear Aegis") is an arena fighting game that released on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 last year. It's the first console release in a series of games that originated on mobile platforms. Hearing "mobile" anything will definitely put off a lot of people right away, but we're going to put that aside and take a look at the Nintendo Switch version today. Developed by Acquire (Akiba's Trip, Octopath Traveler) and published by PQube, Labyrinth of Zangetsu is the exact CRPG throwback that fans like me have been waiting for. Sporting a cool sumi-e art style, it's out now on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC. Coming completely out of nowhere, Limited Run Games have unearthed this abomination to gaming for everyone to enjoy on modern platforms! Available now on just about everything, we're going to be taking a look at the Switch release of Plumbers Don't Wear Ties Definitive Edition today to see if this is a piece of gaming history you'll want to add to your collection, or if it's best left to rot on a long-forgotten console. This one is going to be a bit weird, so be sure to strap yourselves in extra tight. Let's get into it! Top Racer Collection brings together four games, three of which released previously on the Super Nintendo/Sega Genesis and one that's new to this collection. They're all presented in their best forms, complete with quality-of-life additions like save states and online play. This collection is out now on all major platforms, and we're going to be taking a look at the Nintendo Switch version today. This review is going to be a little different than the usual ones, as we're going to cover each game briefly on its own, and then circle back around to look at the overall package itself. Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC Though Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon seems to have a rather strong hold on the retro-Castlevania revival scene, there's a new game that also takes inspiration from the classic vampire-killing game that just may challenge that position. Lords of Exile came into being via a successful Kickstarter back in 2020, and originally promised a 2021 release. Clearly some twists and turns were made along the ways as we only recently saw the game's release. Delays aside, it's now available on just about every modern platform, and we're going to be taking a look at the Steam version today. Was the long wait worth it? Does this capture that indescribable retro charm and flair? Will its villains fill the big shoes left by Dracula himself? Let's dive in and find out! A cyberpunk setting, retro inspired visuals, and even a slight anime aesthetic thrown in for good measure, it seems to have it all. What is Cybertrash STATYX, you ask? Well, it's a new game set to arrive soon on the Nintendo Switch, XBox One/Series X|S, and the PlayStation 4. We're going to be taking a look at the Switch version today, and see if it's a game worth picking up. Seeing as this is a rather straightforward game, let's ditch the intro and dive right in! |
