February 9, 2021 6:15 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Jasmine Description: Ultra Podcast Z took yet another break as we were off the week before (Making way for the F.A. Podcast's first episode though.) but we came back with a topic that has been pushed so far back that we're already done with a chunk of 2021! This was originally envisioned as the first episode of the year but was pushed back as Melancholiaah's availability changed and we had the random aside to talk amusement parks/roller coasters. So we're nicely into February 2021 and we're choosing now to take a look at all the upcoming media we're looking forward to in the new year. Well, maybe if you factor this as a Lunar New Year thing we can still be considered on top of it! Anyway, we discussed a lot of anime, video games, and movies with a too many titles to name here. Lots of things came to us as we went along and we even discussed lots of randomness at the end. Also, bear with the shaky start to this one as we had some technical difficulties to overcome in the first 15 minutes or so that thankfully don't plague the show proper. Did we mention that this show also means that our Valentine's Day-themed episode is pushed back now? Let's hope we catch up to the schedule before 2021 is over! January 26, 2021 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Josh Description: Ultra Podcast Z took a small break last week as we prepared for the launch of our new "Full Hard Podcast" but we are back with the episode topic we postponed! It actually turned out for the best that we postponed this one as we met Josh on the most recent DTL and, in typical fast-moving A-to-J nonsense, he would co-host on this one as well! He had a lot to share as he was quite the roller coaster enthusiast in his youth and while this was meant to be something of a filler, or even throwaway, topic, we had a LOT of fun with this one and the show just flew by live with a very active chat! We didn't even ease into this one as we started ranting about our love for Tokyo Disney Sea within minutes of going live forgoing our usual slow weekly recap intro. We had an outline for this one and while we pretty much covered everything in it, it was in a somewhat random fashion so the topics we covered were a little all over the place. That said, this one probably works best if you just watch the whole thing so sit back and enjoy! January 12, 2020 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru melancholiaah! Description: Ultra Podcast Z is back! It's the start of a new year and while the jury is out if this is the start of a new decade (We discussed whether the "ten" year is part of the previous decade or start of the next during this show.) we definitely have some waking up to do in this one! It's 2021 Prediction time and this was actually an episode we planned to do between Christmas and New Year in 2020 but it never happened, so here we are now! That said, we were more than a little beat and had some getting into the groove to do in this one as that two-week break was a little hard to shake off, but baring some issues with the stream that made us lose our rhythm a little, we were able to get into form after some shakiness! It's always a pleasure to have melancholiaah on and we were able to tackle some topics that we have touched upon all of the 2020 but from a different angle. That said, this was definitely a more loose episode even though we actually did have an outline for this one. This one is more of the crew just needing to jump back into things and have a bit more random fun here and we think we suceeded. Anyhow, expect a full 2021 of Ultra Podcast Z! December 22, 2020 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Badman Haro Description: Ultra Podcast Z is wrapping up the year with some episodes looking at 2020 and some stories that we either missed or that we felt like looking back on with more time to reflect on them. This week was supposed to be the final UPZ of the year but we're planning an Episode 122 (which will be a 2021 Predictions episode) but we wrapped up our trilogy of sorts with 2020 In Review. This one was a bit more random than the other two and while we would ultimately be joined by both Badman and Haro, we spent about three quarters of the show as a trio. We ended up talking about randomness and the first topics for far longer than we thought we would and we almost didn't cover all the stories we intended to, BUT we had the longest, slowest outro ever and managed to actually cover all our topics in one way or another. We were all over the place, but without touching on some touchier subjects of 2020, we definitely covered a lot of big stories here and we had a lot of fun and randomness throughout. It's Christmas though so hopefully this entertains in what is one of the weirdest holiday seasons we've ever had. December 15, 2020 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Jasmine Description: Ultra Podcast Z is wrapping up the year with some episodes looking at 2020 and some stories that we either missed or that we felt like looking back on with more time to reflect on them. This week saw the return of Nyaru just in time to take part in the penultimate episode of UPZ. We didn't have as diverse a topic pool as we did the previous week, but we had two big topics that we really wanted to look at: Video Games In 2020 and Conventions In 2020/Things We Don't Want To See Return. Lots of hot takes and our personal opinions in the second one along with some predictions on how cons will return and what our views are on the online conventions that started popping off a lot throughout 2020 so be sure to check that out. The video game topic was a bit more all over the place and chill and included us actually running down the entire list of awards given at the recent Game Awards and our thoughts on the titles. We also talked some of our favorite games like Animal Crossing, Flight Simulator, and Among Us. We also talked a bit about Cyberpunk 2077 and what the deal with that game is... There was even some internet nonsense here but we were able to recover and carry on. December 8, 2020 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Tiffany Snakz Description: Ultra Podcast Z is wrapping up the year with some episodes looking at 2020 and some stories that we either missed or that we felt like looking back on with more time to reflect on them. Seeing as Nyaru was gone this week we invited Tiffany and Snakz back and even though we didn't say so live during the show, they represent some of the longest running A-to-J members ever, each belonging to what we call "The First Gen" but enough of that. There was a lot of randomness here per usual BUT we had a lot of strong topics as there was an outline this time around! Don't worry though as we still went all over the place talking about the obvious topics of 2020 and going into some more obscure topics (for us) such as the oddly changing Kohaku lineup and why NiziU is EVERYWHERE these days! There was a lot of reminiscing about travel to Japan and other stuff, along with a brief dive into talking about Christmas as that's just around the corner as we speak, but we covered a LOT of topics in this one and we can't wait to revisit some more in the last two UPZs of the year! First up in these episodes is a look at all things Christmas with Hinacchi! In another mostly unscripted episode (which actually HAD topics that were lost when everything crashed minutes before starting the show! RIP) we were a little all over the place at times but reigned ourselves in for some takes on Black Friday and working retail during it, Christmas gift memories, and believing in Santa Claus. There was a bit here and there on traditions and things that we're doing this year, but our bigger topic of the night was discussing Christmas music and some of our favorite songs. November 24, 2020 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Tiffany Description: Ultra Podcast Z number 117 is all about celebrating A-to-J Connections Sixth Anniversary! A-to-J traditionally celebrates its anniversary on Thanksgiving, and seeing as this episode was closest to it, we decided to tackle it here. Tiffany joined as guest this week and in typical 2020 fashion we took a very chill approach to celebrating past and recent accomplishments. It was a chill time and while we did hit all the usual anniversary stuff (memories, the year in review, etc) it was done in a way where we realized that this is a year where our biggest accomplishment is that we made it to the other end of it. With that said, what a crazy year it's been as there have been a lot of changes from the start of 2020 to the end, both with us and within the scene we work in. Anyhow, you can watch for more on that particular topic and we at A-to-J and UPZ will keep plodding along our path as we always have! November 17, 2020 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Description: Ultra Podcast Z is tired and decided to have one of our chill Random Topics/Storytime episodes that we have every so often. We actually opened it up to any topics viewers might have but filled out the 90+ minutes with LOTS of Storytime moments instead! As usual we used up some of our better topics in the pre-show but we still had a lot to talk about with maybe half the show being about Anime Convention Adventures! It was a little different than when we usually tell these stories as we had a lot more to talk about regarding the fact that some conventions in 2021 are also starting to cancel and we just went ham telling some stories/story details we never told before. After a big discussion on horchata and pupusas (and about a restaurant near Nyaru that MIGHT be a money laundering operation?) we went down the road that lead to "Titties Are Poggers", an ongoing inside joke between Manuel and Snakz that has now extended into UPZ and Nyaru! Some Dungeons & Dragons talk rounded things out (let us know if you want to see D&D content here btw!) with the usual amount of randomness throughout the entire show! While these episodes are often hit and miss, we felt this one was a lot of fun and much better than just skipping a week out of laziness! November 10, 2020 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru JohnLovesAnime Description: Ultra Podcast Z is back to it's regular schedule! Nyaru took charge of this week's episode and we were joined by JohnLovesAnime for a special episode dedicated to ENVtubers and the ENVtuber scene! A natural topic we discussed our first exposure to VTubers, the ENVtuber scene (referring to the English-speaking Vtuber scene), and all sorts of topics regarding the scene's evolution, current status, and how we think it might evolve in the future. There was a lot of randomness throughout though, like Manuel's appreciation for the live action "Dragonball Evolution" movie, and some talk of Nyaru's 2.5D... assets... We wrapped up with a lot of talk about ENVtubers in the future and how they might interact with anime conventions, or conventions in general, when they eventually become a thing again. As far as guests go, we can't really hope for a better one than JohnLovesAnime so be sure to follow him via the links below!
