January 31, 2023 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Hinacchi Description: Ultra Podcast Z is getting a little bit of a makeover as these longer descriptions are only going to be on the site from here on out. If you watch on the site... well, comment below or something to let us know if we should keep writing these! Anyway, Hinacchi was set to be on this one and was about thirty minutes late but rather than start late we decided to just go on normally and kill time until she showed up. We talked Fire Emblem, streaming, and other recent news stuff before she dropped in and then we talked all sorts of update stuff, anime cons we want to go to, Hina's maid/idol activities, her OnlyFans and more. It was a pretty random episode as we DID have some semblance of topics but we were kind of at a loss due to the late start. There was a very zoom-y cat though just out of frame so there's that! It was a fun episode though like always and there's a lot of hot takes and topics that you might have an opinion on, and we'd love to hear it! July 6, 2021 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Description: Ultra Podcast Z is continuing its onward and upwards trend with an episode fully dedicated to... nonsense! Actually, we had two big tentpole discussions here that bookended the episode: AX Lite Recap, and Callina/Sarah in Big Brother Season 23. We had a lot to say about the former as it was an odd con to experience as the US is opening up and pretty much cemented online cons as a thing that, while perhaps here to stay on a small scale, will always be a relic of the highest points of pandemic lockdown. After we went over the pros and cons of AX Lite we tackled some random topics like the rise and fall of the "family" Vin Diesel memes, a new animated Night of The Living Dead movie, upcoming anime, and the new Nintendo Switch. Nonsense done with, we moved onto what was probably the biggest topic of the night: Callina/Sarah on Big Brother Season 23. Basically, there is a new contestant on the long-running reality show that comes from the overseas idol world and we discussed both this as news, and about the arguments that are currently going on online, within the overseas idol scene and without, regarding Callina's old content which has mostly been scrubbed from the internet. This was an interesting discussion and the centerpiece of this UPZ episode, but you can of course let us know if you agree or disagree with our views on this complicated topic. April 20, 2021 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Hinacchi Description: Ultra Podcast Z is celebrating 420 with a DOUBLE VTUBER SPECIAL! We actually had the idea to do a fast and loose idol-themed episode after our bigger take on idol documentaries keeps getting delayed. As such we asked Hinacchi to come back and to our surprise she showed up in her VTuber form this time around! Now, we have to stop for a second to talk about this video. Ever since we got a mod for the show we have pointed out that the "twitch versions" and "YouTube versions" of the show would actually be rather unique from here on and that has been the case until this week where we didn't record a "YouTube version" and had to use the twitch version on both sites. It's still very watchable, but there are some visual differences from all the other episodes on YouTube so bear with us if you're a regular viewer. As for the topics covered in this show (mostly idol themed), you'll also have to bear with us as we decided early on that we'd try a take on our "Shooting The Sh*t" style show (A twitch-only show where we fill in cancelled shows with a low-effort talk show stream) where the topics are more open and we play off each other a bit more. This worked at various points and probably didn't at others, but we still managed to cover most of what we wanted even with our big talk about fried rice and boba at the beginning. August 11, 2020 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Callie Tiffany Description: Ultra Podcast Z finally returns back to its proper time and day, but we had a little fun when it came to the hosts this week! Last week we discussed how idols were seen in by those outside the fandom (basically how they were mistakenly seen) and this was seen as a natural follow-up to that one continuing along some of the points we touched upon there. As chance would have it though a bit of drama hit the scene and rather than change up the topic (as we have such a small window to put together a decent series of talking points/hosts) we just shuffled things a bit and along the way replaced Konaru for this week! We hit upon a lot of points that we had hoped to do before the drama hit and, even though we tried to avoid it like the plague, we touched a bit upon that particular topic here and there without naming any names though. Hopefully we don't rattle any cages even though this was originally taken just as a casual topic on our long podcast road and not exactly a harsh examination of the scene as a whole. Let us know what you thought about this one though as we're always open to other views and discussion, but in case we did rattle those aforementioned cages, be sure to keep it clean and civil. Also, we were actually pretty on top of changing the topic header as we moved along so feel free to scrub along even though we did add in our usual levels of randomness here and there! January 29, 2019 7:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Konaru Julily Description: Ultra Podcast Z has it's first OIC (Overseas Idol Collection) special episode! This was actually going to be the topic for last week but it got moved because of scheduling issues. Now, you're going to notice right away that there are some things odd about this podcast. For starters we had to record a new intro and there are several edits in it. Well, Manuel's mic wasn't on but no one mentioned it for about twenty minutes into the podcast! So keep in mind any weird silences weren't actually silences to the hosts. Also most long stretches of silence have been cut out. Thankfully a lot of the intro was taking up by Julily's introductions so there wasn't a lot lost that isn't replaced by the new intro. Anyhow, please ignore that and enjoy anyway as this was a really fun episode where we got more than a little carried away with our love of overseas idols! We mainly discussed ALA for the first half and shared a lot of anecdotes from the convention, closing out with more regarding the ALA 2019 arson incident. Afterwards we talked a lot regarding random topics like the Maho/NGT48 thing and other convention plans before kinda going off the deep end a bit discussing odottemita! We also discussed Anisong World Matsuri in New York and took a look at a bunch of new videos!
