December 21, 2022 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Photaku Description: Ultra Podcast Z took place on a Wednesday for the first time in years as we really wanted to give this episode another chance and it turns out that third time really is the charm! We originally going to close the year out with three episodes right up until Christmas Eve week, but things went a little wonky as Josh, who ultimately hosted this one, was unavailable and then Hinacchi, who was supposed to be on the final, got sick... it was a rough time and it seemed like we'd just do what we could to close the year. Then Manuel lost power on the night of the final and we at first decided to just close the year off early until deciding to maybe give it one last go on a Wednesday since our normal Wed. stream was delayed also this week. All, this nonsense aside we brought the show together and managed to cover the topic we initially wanted to cover with Photaku (Josh) that we weren't able to last week! We had written out several "big" topics in 2022 that we either didn't cover properly on the show throughout the year, or covered very casually. We only really got to like three of these topics but we touched upon some others quickly at the beginning and the end. If you want to hear us talk about Elon Musk, AI art, and some nonsense surrounding Anime Los Angeles and other recent SoCal cons, then check this one out! If not, check it out anyway since this episode was a lot of fun and it took many tries to get going! We will be taking a bit of a break for the holidays and the aforementioned ALA so look forward to our return on January 10, 2023. We hope everyone's holidays are going well! December 6, 2022 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Tiffany Description: Ultra Podcast Z is back to some regular scheduling, and our end-of-year episodes. This is always a weird time for us as we have the anniversary, the holidays (which we tend to never have time to REALLY cover), and end-of-year/look forward to next year stuff to talk about. As we mentioned on the last episode where we had Snakz on, we had Tiffany on this one to look back at 2022 and to talk a bit about our anniversary. It was fun having her on as she hasn't been on streams since around 2020. The core of this episode was supposed to be discussing what it's like going to events and conventions in 2022, arguably the first full year where the "panini" is considered "over". All that is arguable, but the fact of it is that we are all definitely going to events and those events are quite different than they were pre-2020. We definitely had a lot to say about this, especially Tiffany who experienced performing at conventions in 2022 and even unfortunately got sick in the middle of the year, but we didn't cover the topic as fully as we probably could've. That's what you sometimes get with UPZ though right? There was a lot of randomness at the beginning and the end, but also to be expected, but it was a fun episode and we're in the holiday season so let's just continue with the regularity as it is. Next week we're going to cover some of the hot topics we didn't cover in the main body of episodes, which we also sorta teased at the end of this one, and for the first time in a long while, it looks like we're going to have episodes right up until Christmas before taking a break until after New Year's. December 7, 2021 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Hinacchi Description: Ultra Podcast Z saw Nyaru come back after nearly a month away, mostly due to illness, and we also saw the return of Hinacchi who hasn't been on since earlier in the year! This is the penultimate final UPZ of 2021 and we decided to do our usual "Looking Back at The Year" kinda show with a little more randomness thrown in for fun. We actually had a pretty full outline but ignored it for the most part and only touched on some of it in the rapid fire section. This doesn't mean we didn't cover a lot of cool topics though. We talked Squid Game, Conventions this year and beyond, the current job market and the whole "worker shortage" thing going on right now, and there was a lot of crypto and NFT nonsense pretty much throughout this entire show for good measure! It should be mentioned that we had a lot of technical difficulties on this one, which was unfortunate because we had a lot of new viewers this time around, but it is what it is and we hope everyone just looks past the audio/video hiccups and the entire middle part where the show literally stopped lol. That was going to be edited out with a smooth jump cut to hide it (this has happened in the past) but it was missed so yeah... YouTube gets the full experience! Anyway, there were some good topics here so check it out, keep an eye for more Hinacchi appearances now that she is more settled these days, and tune in next week for the final UPZ of 2021 where we will be giving out "Golden Reggies" to our favorite things of 2021! March 16, 2021 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Janette Description: Ultra Podcast Z changed a little this week with the addition of a new mod for the live show so it's worth a brief mention that for the first time this "YouTube Version" is actually fairly unique from the version that was streamed live as it contains somewhat different visual elements and some of our references to the changing topics can't be seen here. Anyway, more on that in coming episodes but let's take a look at this one. This is the final episode in our "Quarantine Blues" series of podcasts. Not only has it been almost exactly a year since the beginning of the stay-at-home orders but we also made the promise that we'd return with "Episode VI" when those orders lift, and lift they have. It's been months since we've had an episode like this and they originally came out of the fact that we had a glut of hosts to draw from (since everyone was home) and we didn't really have anything to talk about since nothing was happening beyond event cancellations and topics that YouTube REALLY hated back then. While this one has a bit more form as we had an entire year of stuff to look back on, it's worth mentioning that it's a very loose episode that only had the barest of topics outlined, but it was still a fun episode to come back to and it was also a fun test on our new streaming format.
