April 26, 2022 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Badman Hinacchi Description: Ultra Podcast Z is still here even though we took a break because of JD's move and then had to replace him for our special Episode 169. (It's practically the funny internet number!) We already had lined up Hinacchi for this episode and Warren joined us as the actual host, reusing our old "Shooting The Sh*t" layout, and we carried on with what turned out to be a very random episode. Nyaru couldn't show up because of the then-upcoming Offkai Expo, and Manuel was going as well, so this wasn't as structured as many other episodes even though we DID come into it with several topics we wanted to cover. Looking back on it though we did move through most of what we wanted to talk about, and every host managed to get a lot of discussion in, just that it kinda flowed everywhere with more of the STS type antics over the usual UPZ ones. We did talk all sorts of things though like softcore parody movies, accidentally eating bugs, and Hina's long-unseen VTuber. This was originally going to be edited down, and maybe even held back as a "lost episode", but we decided to release it as is mainly due to the fact that our streams have been very shaky recently due to everyone's schedules and all the events that are upcoming. Look forward to at least one more episode like this one as JD will still be out for at least one more episode and also look forward to a series of anime-themed episodes with "Ani-May"! July 6, 2021 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Description: Ultra Podcast Z is continuing its onward and upwards trend with an episode fully dedicated to... nonsense! Actually, we had two big tentpole discussions here that bookended the episode: AX Lite Recap, and Callina/Sarah in Big Brother Season 23. We had a lot to say about the former as it was an odd con to experience as the US is opening up and pretty much cemented online cons as a thing that, while perhaps here to stay on a small scale, will always be a relic of the highest points of pandemic lockdown. After we went over the pros and cons of AX Lite we tackled some random topics like the rise and fall of the "family" Vin Diesel memes, a new animated Night of The Living Dead movie, upcoming anime, and the new Nintendo Switch. Nonsense done with, we moved onto what was probably the biggest topic of the night: Callina/Sarah on Big Brother Season 23. Basically, there is a new contestant on the long-running reality show that comes from the overseas idol world and we discussed both this as news, and about the arguments that are currently going on online, within the overseas idol scene and without, regarding Callina's old content which has mostly been scrubbed from the internet. This was an interesting discussion and the centerpiece of this UPZ episode, but you can of course let us know if you agree or disagree with our views on this complicated topic. October 27, 2020 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Pleiades Description: Ultra Podcast Z is bringing the spoops! this is the LAST of our special Halloween UPZ episodes and, while we're sad to see the season come and go yet again, we look forward to moving back to a more regular schedule. This year we took a look at the scariest topic of all: The Year 2020! Pleiades joined us for this one (and yes, his camera DOES turn on towards the end!) and he actually wrote most of the outline for it, but we all experienced 2020 very similarly here in the US so we all had some things to say. Much like the year itself, the topics started somewhat light and we were shocked right away as to all that happened this year and the world-changing events that just kind of piled on top of each other to the point that they became quickly forgotten. We tried to not cover some of the more obvious, bigger topics like the pandemic and the protests that marked much of the year (and are still both very much ongoing) but we DID touch upon them so look forward to that. Also, once again like the year itself, things got much more serious as we got to more recent events and we had a HUGE deep dive into politics and voting. We'll repeat what we said live, go out and vote if you're an adult please. Well, there's much to be said but honestly just watch it and let us know some of your thoughts as this is quite the unusual episode for us. March 17, 2020 7:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Konaru Callie Description: Ultra Podcast Z loves Animal Crossing and with the release of "New Horizons"... on the horizon, we decided to have a special episode dedicated to just that! We had a funny intro where we went a little too far into anti-Chris Hansen/TCAP nonsense but after some storytime we took a deep dive into the topic and had a great time with it! Besides talking about the games rather in depth, with a special focus on AC New Leaf, we also did a live reaction to Callie's Isabelle cosplay video (a cosplay she wore on the show) and looked at some Animal Crossing memes! Callie was a little under the weather, as was Manuel, so we're a little off at points here but we held it together for over two hours and came to the conclusion that no one really played Animal Crossing City Folk for the Wii and that Isabelle might not actually be a bell. Lots of randomness wrapped this one up, but do check it out and let us know what Animal Crossing you started with and what you're most looking forward to in New Horizons! December 3, 2019 7:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Konaru melancholiaah NOTE: We apologize for all the audio issues in the podcast. Namely Manuel's microphone being too low, but we hope that it is still watchable. We plan to prep audio better in the future. Description: Ultra Podcast Z is closing out the year with a series of episodes looking back on the past ten years! This first episode sees the return of Max (melancholiaah) as guest host and we discussed the changes in J-Pop over the past ten years. First though, we had a nice discussion on how being a meme several times over is like as Max recently hit meme status again with her "Toad Sings" series. Along with this were some serious takes on how the scene has changed and how our own listening habits have also, as well as how groups like Dempagumi.inc, BiS, Momoiro Clover, and BABYMETAL have changed the scene. There was also a deep dive into the effect KPop has had on the idol/J-Pop field and more on what it makes being a fan of JPop in 2019 and beyond. It wasn't all fun and games and on topic though as these kind of things always go, we had a lot of fun discussing Kidz Bop and more!
