BugLug is back in action! On January 7th, the band made a surprise appearance alongside other visual kei bands at Tokyo Dome City Hall. The five-member group had slowed down on their activities since vocalist Issei’s head-injury incident back in May of 2016. Now fully recovered, Issei displayed his restored energy, and treated fans to another breakthrough announcement: BugLug will be performing at the famous Nippon Budokan on May 7th, 2017, a year after the accident. Furthermore, the band will release a best album, “Zesshou ~Best of BugLug~” on April 5th of this year. 2017 has gifted double the miracle for this group, as this upcoming performance will be a remarkable point in their history.
-Claudia On December 21 LM.C dropped their new album “VEDA”. Beginning with the song “THE BUDDHA” with an exotic and fast-paced percussion section it’s hard not to be drawn in from the first note. This song is difficult not to sing along to and I found myself dancing along a bit! Aiji does a few of the vocals and his voice is a good contrast to Maya’s, and a little past the halfway mark features Maya’s rapping skills and reminds me of Oh My Juliet.
Though the last three tracks are a bit laid back compared to the other songs, the whole album is upbeat and fun, featuring fast beats, heavy bass, and Maya’s raspy vocals. Here’s where you can buy it! -Kelsey Back in 2011, the GazettE released the first volume of “TRACES”, which was a Best of Album of the years 2005-2009. Now, five years later, they announced their release of “TRACES Vol 2” as a Ballad Best Album to help celebrate their fifteen years as a band. There is a twist to this, as it won’t be your regular compilation CD. In fact, the band members will be remastering each of the twelve songs, bringing together their young, indie days with their newer, more matured selves. There are two versions of the CD, a limited edition which consists of all 12 tracks and a digital pack, and then a regular edition with only 10 tracks. It is to be released March 8, 2017 with songs including Taion, Guren, D.L.N, and more! Official Facebook Announcement: HERE -Reida The members of rock band Unlucky Morpheus have described themselves as a band with a love for metal, anime, video games, manga, and seafood. (Yes, seafood. Though often classified as a visual rock band, their music style mainly follows the alternative genre with new-wave and shoegaze influences.
Plastic Tree’s front man and backup guitarist Ryutaro Arimura has recently made his solo debut with his mini album release titled: “デも/demo”! デも/demo is made up of Ryutaro’s personal, unpublished work spanning from 1996 to 2013. To give life to this unpublished music, he collaborated with Hirofumi Hatano of People in The Box who worked on the arrangements for the mini album! Other guest musicians include Yusuke Kobayashi (The Novembers), Toriishi Ryouta , and Takaga Ryousuke (chouchou merged syrups). Months after the appearance of YouTube Red, music videos from multiple artists including the GazettE have been unavailable for certain regions. While their official YouTube account (GazettESMEJ) is still up and available, the GazettE has created a VEVO account for their overseas fan-base to avoid those view restrictions. Currently, there are ten music videos uploaded ranging from their 2011 release of “VORTEX” to their 2015 release of “DOGMA.”
In order to view the videos, they have to be accessed directly from the official VEVO website or app. Viewing their VEVO account from YouTube will still have restrictions based on your country. Now that there’s access to their music videos again, hopefully more will be uploaded throughout time. Enjoy! Their first album, “Vamps”, dropped in 2009 and was shortly followed by their “Beast” album in 2010. With a short 3 year break, the Japanese rock band was back on it with “Sex Blood Rock n’ Roll” in 2013 and most recently “BloodSuckers” in 2014. That all goes to say, with four albums, 12 singles, and 11 DVD’s, VAMPS has been kept busy in the 8 years since their conception.
Most recently, VAMPS released their newest single “Inside of Me” just three months ago on August 31st of this year. Created and recorded entirely in the U.S., the single was produced by the big-hit American producer, Howard Benson. The single consists of the track, “Inside of Me” which features Chris Motionless, the lead singer from the American gothic metalcore band, Motionless in White. The B-side track is “Rise or Die” - a more rebellious sounding rock sound that draws on the German guitarist, Richard Z. Kruspe, for his composing and musical skill. Both songs on the single are a credible testament to the musical genius of this legendary rock band. Six months ago, the GazettE ended their 2016 -DOGMATIC TROIS- world tour. They took fans by storm by performing in South America, North America, Europe, and Asia! Sixth Guns have been on edge waiting for a DVD announcement and have finally received their wish. The band is to release a World Tour Documentary on January 25, 2017 in both Blu-Ray and regular DVD. The Blu-Ray version will cost 6,481yen ($58USD), while regular DVD is 5,556yen ($50USD).
Fans of Nagoya Kei band lynch. were shocked today at the announcement that bassist Akinori has been detained and is currently under investigation.
