Just a couple days after releasing the short version, LUNA SEA has dropped the full-length MV for their new song "Hold You Down", their latest song that comes from the upcoming album "LUV". This MV will only be available for a very short 24 hours and can be found HERE. While it may be hard for fans of the group's heavier work in the past to revisit the more mellowed-out LUNA SEA, this track is something special. On first viewing I couldn't help but feel vibes of their "Love Song", a song they released in 2000 right before their decade-long hiatus. While they aren't too similar musically, I couldn't help but feel that this was a throw-back to both that song and that era of the band. This was made more interesting when I learned that this MV is directed by Shuichi Tan who, interestingly enough, also worked with the band way back then on the MV for "Love Song". The video itself is something of a sombre affair and to be completely honest made me also remember that we are still waiting for the long-delayed new X JAPAN album, a band where LUNA SEA guitarist Sugizo is also a member. Anyway, in the meantime check out this MV and rest assured of the fact that LUNA SEA's latest album, the aforementioned "LUV", is indeed ready to drop in just a little over a week on December 20th. Following its release the band will perform two nights at Saitama Super Arena on Dec. 23 and 24 which will kick off their "LUV Tour 2018" the following January. If you missed the 24 hour window you can still watch the short version of the MV below! |
