It’s been a crazy year for visual kei band Matenrou Opera. So far in 2016, the band has released a single, embarked on a two-month long tour, and performed at the annual Anime North convention in Toronto, Canada. Announced in mid-May, the news of guitarist Anzi’s departure on July 22, after eight years of work with the band had many fans of Matenrou Opera astonished and saddened. His reasons for departure were that there was a ‘difference in beliefs.’ All four of the other members confirmed that Matenrou Opera will continue activities without him. His last live, entitled Hishou (‘Flight’) took place in Tsutaya O-EAST in Shibuya this past Friday; with a maximum capacity of 1,300 persons, the venue had sold out. The concert was chalk-full of announcements for the band. At the concert, it was announced that Matenrou Opera would be releasing a new best-of album with some of Matenrou’s most beloved PVs - after that, the rest is up to the fans to decide the album’s remaining content!

Last announcement for the day of the Anzi’s live: a photobook (3000 Yen) containing pictures of the Hishou live, taken by Tsuchiya Ryota of ARTCOY.
