UN ambassador, actor, and international samurai guitarist Miyavi recently toured through the US and Mexico over the summer to promote his new album, No Sleep till Tokyo, and we were lucky to catch him in Dallas!
It’s been almost a year since we last spoke to ACME, and what a year it’s been for the visual kei band. With several more single releases dropping after their release of the full length album, Zesshou Ouka, and more shows in Japan and America, we were lucky enough to have the chance to sit down with them after their first Texas live at A-kon 2019! When D'espairsRay disbanded in 2011, they cited vocalist HIZUMI's health problems - he had a rare throat condition which made it difficult for him to continue singing. He has been absent from the music industry since, only returning for a one-off reunion show in 2014. Now, HIZUMI is in a new band, who have just released their first demo.
DEXCORE is a Visual Kei/deathcore band formed in 2016. The group has been steadily releasing singles since their formation, and their lineup includes the star power of ex-Deathgaze drummer Naoki, but they have yet to release an album. The latest song in their repertoire of often-brutal death metal is "DON'T BE AFRAID", which officially releases next month. You can see the music video below.
Visual Kei/alt-metal powerhouse DIR EN GREY has announced that they will be touring North America in December of 2019, to kick off their previously announced This Way to Self-Destruction tour which hits Europe in early 2020. The North American leg of their headlining tour will see the band visit nine cities in the US and Mexico, starting with Los Angeles on December 5th. YOSHIKI has donated 10 million yen in support of the victims and survivors of the Kyoto Animation fire which occurred on July 18. After learning about the tragedy that befell the studio, YOSHIKI made the donation to the dedicated support fund established by Kyoto Animation through his 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Yoshiki Foundation America.
ACME rocked A-kon 2019 at Gilley's in Dallas, performing their second US concert and first in Texas, and we loved every minute of it!
ACME made their US live debut earlier this year at Anime Milwaukee and now they're lined up for TWO performances in Texas and California!
