Description:
Welcome! Here's the eighteenth episode of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and as we said live, that means we are now "legal"! A lot of random bad luck meant that we lost two hosts on this one (Danny and Molly) early in the morning so Kyuu snuck in as a very last minute replacement to tell us more stories of her people so that we'd at least keep our record up as never having less than five hosts. That said there were some really good presentations this time around so it's a very good thing we didn't end up cancelling. It's almost Halloween so we stepped up the spoopyness just a little by opening with a presentation on jiangshi, or Chinese "hopping vampires" and we had some other great ones that includes Jojo's Bizarre Adventure nonsense and Show By Rock! Also, just to fill up some times due to some shorter presentations, and fewer presenters, there was a bit more storytime in this one than usual and the stories shared were... interesting to say the least. Here's to next week's DTL though where we will be a little more up to steam (though down Callie and Pleiades) and hopefully we'll all remember to Jojo pose in the thumbnail! ALSO, there will be more spoopy topics from here on out as we enter into October so hopefully you'll all be looking forward to that! Welcome! Here's the "Eternally Seventeen" Episode of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and it saw a LOT of randomness in it! First of all, Cat replaces Molly this week and it's always great to have her back. Next, Callie opens with her balloon twisting presentation which actually was the impetus for the entire Drink Talk Learn streams in general! (From a discussion we had on a UPZ episode earlier this year) Kyuu, who was a last minute replacement for Matt, didn't drink so others drank for her and along the way to that presentation Manuel and Warren got QUITE drunk. Cat also talked squids and there was some squeamishness that might be fun to look back on! Whether drunk or not, Pleiades' presentation was the first one that... wasn't a presentation and we just stopped it after a while. AND, maybe most important of all, we had a lot of randomness in this one, but we moved REALLY fast and got in and out easily under five hours. Welcome! Here's the sixteenth of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and it's the first one to see seven hosts in months! Kyuu joined us especially on this one and when we first planned her appearance it was going to be on an episode where we ALL ate spicy noodles instead of drinking. Flash forward months of pushing it back (and with Warren actually becoming the first person to do spicy noodles instead of drinking) we did it but only her and Callie taking the spicy noods challenge! Elsewhere we had a somewhat slow opening (with TWO openings, the first being silent) but our promise to keep presentations shorter actually seems to be working as we had an extra presenter on and we still managed to come in with an hour to spare when compared to last week's runtime. Speaking of one hour, there were no one hour presentations here! Something we haven't been able to avoid for WEEKS! There's also a lot of nonsense in the in-between parts of this one, from the arguments of doing shots to certain parts of the body, to LOTS of yelling over one another, and lots of random cats! There's some really good presentations here and the lack of voting pressure made things move pretty fast so there should be something for everyone here! Also, we got Comfort Callie, though she wasn't comfortable for long, two weeks in a row! Welcome! Here's the fifteenth of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and it was a LONG one! We had a slow start as not only was Pleiades out for technical difficulties for like 30 minutes, but Molly also broke a plate! After that was all sorted out, we managed to hit an hour presentation AGAIN with Warren's presentation on his people, the Hmong. Elsewhere we talked Lily Garden Ads, Matt nonsense, period symptoms, wuxia, and Hard Gay. It's worth mentioning that Callie literally changed her presentation right before she actually presented it and talked periods instead of her original topic. ALSO, she was in her "Comfort Callie" persona and was really chill and even sported a filter. Molly also was dressed up as "Lily" from Lily's Garden! Lots of randomness here and there along with looking at some of Leslie's art in the second volume of the Hetalia manga and lots of topics that aren't exactly SFW! Anyhow, this one went close to six hours and we're going to try to keep them at least somewhat shorter in the future, but everyone had a good time and we even looked over our Morton's List dictionary that we created over the past week which lead to a "hip off" between Molly and Pleiades! Welcome! Here's the fourteenth of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and it is far less cursed than the last one! That said, it was also far more laid back than we're used to and it moved really fast, barring Molly's opening Nancy Drew games presentation, and we had one of the shortest episodes in recent memory. We did away with voting after the last one for many reasons (discussed after the first presentation) so that also caused some of the in-between down time, and especially the ending, to move much faster, almost to the point where there was nothing for us to do. Elsewhere there was presentations on Morton's List, a random reality game, that will eventually have a dictionary of new DTL lingo that we will list here when it's done and an... interesting pre-recorded cooking show from Matt. Speaking of Matt, this was his return after two weeks. Did we mention that Warren took up the not-used eating spicy noodles instead of alcohol rule? Because he did and he of course took it like a champ! Look forward to more of that in the future. Welcome! Here's the thirteenth of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and boy was it CURSED!!! Molly returned and we were joined by yet another Peachy Parade member in the form of Sylvia (who spent most of her time on the show upside-down!) and we were primed for the best one yet! We started with some Nancy Drew stuff, which also provided us one of our biggest, most active audiences we've ever had live before, but what was going to be just another two-parter presentation turned into our first one that broke 60 minutes! We tried to soldier on, but this would turn out to be one of our longer shows even though we moved really fast during all the down times. Also, Sylvia didn't last much beyond her own presentation, but her scores were given before she left. Speaking of scoring, this might be the last one we do that as it created a lot of nonsense and did we mention that the popular vote got taken over by bots? Because it did! There are other cursed moments here (and one weird audio drop) but we also lost the stream several times due to XSplit acting up (it actually needed a missed update to work properly) but one should just watch to experience all the cursed-ness in real time! Welcome! Here's the twelfth of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and we had a bit of shuffling when it came to hosts both before and during the show! Replacing Molly was Racheal and replacing Matt was Weston. We were planning on just going on like this but we only got a few minutes in when Warren's power went out! After a bit of wondering what to do, we decided to bring on Molly to vote in Warren's place until his power came back on. Hence her presence in the first hour during the first two presentations. Warren's power would eventually come back on though so everything went off without a hitch otherwise. Besides that, the word of the day for this stream was "heat" as it was insanely hot in the West Coast during this time and not only was that the cause of Warren's power outage, it was also the cause of us moving somewhat quickly throughout this one as it was rather unbearable for some of us to continue into this stream beyond the five hour mark, drinking aside. All this taken into account it was still a really fun episode that saw another interactive-ish presentation from Callie in the form of her Programming 101 thing and us singing Last Christmas in its ENTIRETY! Unfortunately that latter bit isn't here because YouTube didn't like it, but you can hear us refer to it here and there. Anyway, there were some technical difficulties here and there and this particular render isn't as crisp as we would like, but it's still a fun DTL and should be checked out! Welcome! Here's the eleventh of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and it also served as a birthday episode of sorts for Manuel! Two awkward renditions of "Happy Birthday" (in English and Japanese) and we were ready to go! First of all, it's worth noting that we had a seventh host for this one in the form of Micheal who stuck around for the first three ish hours and the first 3.5 presentations, he left rather abruptly and we still aren't sure (at the time of this upload) as to why that was. Anyhow, we soldiered on and the presentations continued! Molly started a game show, and Callie got a little tipsy and talked about 3D printers, both of them while eating tacos. On the meta front, Matt discussed his own online history of shitposting and Warren continued his "Last Christmas" story, the latter of which is being stretched into a trilogy. Chinese instruments and Scientology rounded everything out and we had a pretty solid episode! Lots of interactions with out live audience, and a run time that BARELY came in under six hours made this one a whole lot of fun! Welcome! Here's the tenth of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and it feels like an awesome milestone of sorts as these streams were never really thought to be a regular thing, let alone with a regular "cast" and they've proven relatively popular with our viewership, all good things. The cast was crazy similar to last week except that we lost Racheal on this one and gained Molly, the latter originally scheduled to also be on last week as well. This one also was originally another six hour stream but we cut out a huge side discussion we had to make this YouTube video move just a little faster as it also contained our longest presentation ever at almost an hour. As wild as that was, this one also featured two of our shortest presentations ever as well! Truly a show that was all over the place, but was very fun! Also, not to give away a bit of one of the presentations, but there's the beginnings of a DTL game, so be sure to check that out! This was a very meta episode and only had two or three "traditional" presentations, but there was pretty much never a dull moment, and similar to last week, this one also featured random surprise appearances by Haro! Welcome! Here's the ninth of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and we see the return of Racheal as well as the continuation of Manuel's mic going a little crazy when things get heated! (Sorry about that!) This one both felt like it ran too long and moved really fast and while we all did manage to keep our presentations relatively short, Pleiades aside, we also did manage to continue this one running well over five hours. We had a lot of fun here on this one from the get-go and even though we lost Molly as a host even before we started, we had the added bonus of Leslie being an accidental guest host as she was at Warren's house during this stream and occasionally popped out. Anyhow, there were a lot of good presentations here, typical Chinese stuff, Drag Queens, Unsung Rock Bands, Shoujo Anime (which we'll add some notes on below), Shin Megami Tensei, and a presentation on the band "Crossbreaker" that really caused us to lose our shit. We can't help but wonder if you'll be as smitten with that presentation as we were.
