Here's the fiftieth episode of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and we've been playing with the format a lot over the last few episodes and we're adding to that on our milestone fiftieth episode by using a new stream format that looks cool but also gives us a brand-new four hour time limit (having to do with the recording) from here on out. That said this was originally seen to be another "redux" episode just like DTL 25 where we take an old presentation and redo it either because we felt we can present it better, or with updates, or if we're just being lazy but we didn't do that and basically just did a normal episode. That said Callie technically did a redo (also she did TWO presentations) and Pleiades did a presentation that was originally intended for last week, so we'll see if we consider this the redux episode or just leave that floating around a bit. All that aside we had some cool presentations here, a returning Molly, and a surprising amount of puppets all over the place! Technical difficulties were the word of the day though as Manuel had to alter his presentation as the show was going on, with the final product being a mix of sharing a half dozen different screens, and Pleiades ultimately had to do his presentation without any sound. Lots of fun was had still though, Callie got quite toasty, and we played with this new format and had a bit at the end where we were worried we'd run out that four hour clock. A great episode but not without its usual nonsense and a special sort of live stress not often seen in DTL presentations. Here's the forty-seventh episode of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and this was our first "All Glizzy Special" as we were all guys this time around as Callie was still not on and it was a week off for Molly, Yuji, and others. We put on a good show that had some really fun presentations and in-between bits. We started with a really long Jeopardy-style game from Warren and between that and the wrap-around parts, we were almost two hours in before we got around to the second presentation! Next up was a game that non one talks about, "Shira Oka: Second Chances", and while the presentation was made hoping to find out where its creators are, we quickly found them via LinkedIn thanks to our live chat! Hao talked transmogrification, and also has been slowly inserting himself into our normal cast might we add, and Pleiades talked Comic Book YouTubers (ComicTubers?) and took up a big chunk of the end due to technical difficulties. A fun episode all around that even saw Callie drop in for a very odd storytime. Elsewhere, we sorta created what will probably become an A-to-J D&D Podcast so keep an eye out for that! We're not sure if the "All Glizzy" cast will return per se, but next week the OG DTL Gang will all be back together for the first time in almost a month, so look forward to that! That's right, last week's episode was our unannounced One Year Anniversary and this marks the first episode of the new year (though oddly both this one and the OG first episode were on Memorial Day weekend because of calendar nonsense) and it's a rather interesting one. Viewers might notice a totally different look to this one and that's due to the fact that this one was hosted not by Callie, but by Warren (AKA Badman) and uses his setup. No Timer-chan, a pentagram-ish non presenting layout, and some transition screens! Also, due to Warren hosting the audio volume is lower than usual overall BUT it's worth mentioning that we fixed this a few minutes in so be prepared for that shift in audio headphone users! Then again, no one reads these descriptions so you'll most likely just click off when it changes randomly lol. Anyhow, no Callie or Molly, but we really wanted to go with this episode as we knew that we would be skipping the next week for a while and we asked veterans Yuji and Hao to join us again this time around. Lots of fun presentations, bands with music based on Berserk, a sort of Yaoi Draw My Life Storytime, some awesome tips for GMs and more! This setup won't take over all the upcoming DTLs, but it's safe to say that whenever Warren hosts it'll look like this so be prepared for that in the future! It's not weird in terms of hosts as it's our five standard hosts (Molly joining again) and our presentations were all long, but not surprisingly so, but there was a lot of weirdness when it comes to the visuals of this show. We have been talking about leaving Zoom (which is what we use for our calls) for a while now and we latched onto the idea of using Skype after learning about a lot of features it had in the back end that could help us out. Then we learned about "Together Mode". The entire first 30 minutes of this show is basically us having fun with the mode and waiting until Molly joined us. The rest is kind of normal, but the changes in call meant some quirks in the show itself that we weren't expecting. Also, a lot of errors happened at the end and literally everything dropped at one point. We apologize if any of this is odd but these videos have chapters so you can just skip to segments if you like. Presentations are the usual fare with Warren talking fighting games, Manuel talking lesser-known movie sequels, Callie having an open discussion of sorts regarding the Urban Rescue Ranch, and more. We also had wombats and a surprising presentation on Sega from Pleiades. A fun show even if we probably never use Skype again in the future. It was quite an accomplishment when you think about it. A lot of the presentations went over 45 mins (even Matt & Molly who said that they were going to have short ones) and we had a LONG, nearly hour intro before we even got to the first presentation. That said, the presentations were really good and no one really wanted this one to end early. This week saw Warren leave and Matthew come back for the first time this year. He talked hentai plots and other presentations included one on the "devil horns" gesture and the K-Pop group Dreamcatcher, both presentations which have minor cuts to them due to copyright issues btw. Elsewhere there was cognitive distortion and Hideki Naganuma and, besides the LONG intro, there was very little down time in-between presentations once we realized we were going WAY over time. That said, it's still a fun episode in spite of its length though the next couple will probably be shorter and tighter until we inevitably let time slip from us again with more six-hour episodes. TL;DR it was a video about how locals HATE the "Joker Stairs" in Queens, New York. The funnier part about this clip having to be cut was that we KNEW it would be cut when we were live and actually started singing "DMCA" to the tune of "YMCA". If anything, it's THAT part being gone that makes this most sad. He had a long presentation though and that was definitely just an intro bit so rest assured it's all still here and there's another plus to watching live! Anyway, there were only four presentations this time, with Kyuu sitting in to make a fifth non-presenter, and all you need to know before diving into this one is that we're all going to go to the Renaissance Faire when this whole quarantine thing is all tidily wrapped up! Here's the fortieth episode of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and we have another theme! This time we chose to tackle things from our childhood and with a premise as loose as that, the presentations were all over the place! First off, Molly and Weston returned for this one so we had a grand total of six hosts and we were talking about topics that almost inherently make it so that we'd be talking for a very long time, so we moved fast. There is very little down time between the presentations and even though some presentations pushed past the 40 minute mark, we tried our best to keep things tight. We still brought it in under five hours but this is definitely one of the longer DTL streams we've had in recent memory. That aside we had a really varied set of presentations with two dealing with shows from childhood and two dealing (sort of) with religious topics, so we almost had mini themes at work here without even trying. There was a lot of fun and all the usual nonsense but it's a little odd filling out the chapters and realizing that the in-between dragged out segments aren't here. Let us know if you miss them or if we should always just get on with things! There also was a feeling of relaxation with this one as we knew going into it that with a nice milestone of 40 episodes, we'd be taking a week off, so look forward to our next DTL after Easter with a brand new guest!
