I don't think we've ever reviewed a video game adaptation of a board game, and that's interesting considering all the great ones that are out there. As the name implies, Richman 11 is the eleventh game in the long-running Richman series. It originally released back in 2022 on PC by way of its developer Softstar Entertainment, and in 2024 on consoles by way of publisher EastAsiaSoft. It's available now on all major platforms except the Nintendo Switch, and we're going to be looking at it today on the PlayStation 4. This is going to be another long one, so let's just get to the review already!

We've all heard about sequels coming out long after a series is thought to be dead and buried, but how about a sequel to a relatively unknown game that's nearly 40 years old? Beyond The Ice Palace 2 is the follow-up no one knew they needed to a game that launched on microcomputers all the way back in 1988. It's been taken out of its long hibernation thanks to developer Storybird Studio, and publishers PQube and PixelHeart. It's out now on most major platforms, and we took a look at it on both the Nintendo Switch and PC for this review. Was the long wait worth it? We hope to find out here and now!

Reaching Through Time & Space: A Macross -Shooting Insight- Review

If there's one thing that Macross fans are used to, it's disappointment. The series which first saw its English-language release come in the form of the first part of Robotech has seen many new shows, movies, games, and more, but just about all of them have remained as Japanese exclusives. It's a matter too complicated to explain here, but rights issues have meant that overseas fans have to go through unconventional means to experience the series that they love. That all changed when it was announced that most of the Macross anime franchise would see its streaming debut on Hulu and Disney+, and that was followed up with the announcement of a game getting a localized release as well. Macross -Shooting Insight- is an arcade style shooter (or "shmup" if you will) that is currently available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. We're going to be looking at the PlayStation 4 release today, and see if the wait has been worth it. This is going to be a long one, so let's just dive in right away!

We're big fans of puzzle games here at A-to-J, and we're looking at one that today that wears its retro-inspired roots on its sleeve. Super Puzzle Blasters is a 2D, single-screen puzzle game coming soon to Steam, and we're going to see if this egg-saving adventure is one that you're going to want to pick up on launch. It's cute and fun, and there's really no need for any further intro. On that note, let's dive straight into the review!

We're huge fans of farming games here at A-to-J, and my particular experience goes all the way back to the SNES version of Harvest Moon. Thanks to the success of games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there have been several games released to fill in all corners of the farming niche. Sugardew Island is a game that came to life via a successful Kickstarter, and recently released on just about every major platform. We're going to be taking a look at it on the Nintendo Switch here, since these types of games just seem to hit different there. On that note, let's dive in!

Game Review: Parkitect: Deluxe Edition

Parkitect: Deluxe Edition, the release of the game for consoles, adds in two DLCs to the base game and makes the price comparison to other games in the genre more easily digestible. While I don’t enjoy comparing other games to this one, you can get a good picture of it by thinking of Planet Coaster or Roller Coaster Tycoon. We looked at it around its launch, and had a lot of issues saving our games. No literally, we couldn't save our games for anything. So now we're back to see if that's been fixed. Guess we must dive much deeper. Let's see what Parkitect brings to the table!

It's been a while since I've reviewed a Metroidvania title, and the one we're going to be looking at today is a game that I've been following for over a year now. Morkull Ragast's Rage is a 2D Metroidvania game developed by Disaster Games and published by Selecta Play. It's out now on the Nintendo Switch, XBox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC. We're going to be taking a look at it on the Nintendo Switch here, though it seems to be very similar across the board. There isn't really a need for further intro, so let's dive right in!

Not Just Another Sim: A Tavern Manager Simulator Review

When we think about simulation games, we often think of titles like The Sims, RollerCoaster Tycoon, or much smaller shovelware games. It’s difficult to think that a one-shot studio could make a game that is not only works and makes sense as simulator, but is also quite good. I can name on one hand how many simulators from indie developers I've ever even enjoyed, let alone felt compelled to 100% complete. There are still some things needed to give this game higher marks, but for what it does now, I was truly impressed. Tavern Manager Simulator is a game that places you in the middle of nowhere, between settlements, castles, and caverns, and gives you a plot of land in which to build up your very own tavern. You must cook for the peasants of the land, as well as nobles, knights, and eventually even lords and ladies. It’s a game that has something I feel the whole simulation genre lacked, and that's creativity. Now, let’s see where this all goes, shall we? Tavern Manager Simulator is not just another sim, and I am here to prove it!
