The Spring 2018 anime season has come to a close, which brings the end of various seasons and shows that we have grown to love. Personally, I was not expecting a ton out of the season, but Comic Girls was one of the shows that helped it soar above expectations in my book! Comic Girls takes place in modern day Japan and revolves around four different high school manga authors. When Kaoruko Moeka, or Kaos-Sensei, feels as though she has hit a dead end in the world of serialization rejections, she decides that it would be best to move to a comic dorm to help her gain new skills and focus on her dreams of becoming a professional manga author. While she loves her 4-koma, slice-of-life, style. She has very little inspiration from her real life to draw from! Kaos-Sensei lacks communication and experiences with people, she overcomes her fear and social anxiety and begins to befriend her newest roommates. Koyume Koizuka, her roommate, is a shoujo author with an inability to draw men. Her cute sense of style and capability in normal social situations are skills which Kaos-Sensei highly respects! Across the hall live two authors who have already been serialized. Ero-manga author Ruki Irokawa and Shounen Fantasy author Tsubasa Katsuki are closely bonded friends who have overcome their initial struggles as authors to become quite popular in their own rights! Throughout the show, Kaos-Sensei continues to befriend her roommates and attends classes and even adventurous outings with the group! While the show is light-hearted and full of laughs and smiles, there is a strong message about friendship and the factors of life that matter most within the show. Comic Girls honestly was the show that I binged first and continued coming back to throughout the season wanting more of. With all of life’s crazy twists and turns, Comic Girls is a show that I could recommend to anyone needing a moment of moe in their life! -Swittx Sara’s Overall Review:
Pros: + Lighthearted Comedy + Cute Character Design + Wonderful Voice Acting + Refreshing Cons: - Perhaps a bit simple for people who are looking for a heavily involved plot. Overall: 4/5 Failed Kaos-Sensei Storyboards |
