With the conclusion of the Spring anime season and the start of the Summer one, it is now time to look back on one of the truest gems of the Spring: Hinamatsuri. As someone who normally finds themselves watching intense shows such as 91 Days or off-the-wall series such as Cromartie High School, I thought at first glance Hinamatsuri would surely be unimpressive. The Spring 2018 anime season has come to a close, which brings the end of various seasons and shows that we have grown to love. Personally, I was not expecting a ton out of the season, but Comic Girls was one of the shows that helped it soar above expectations in my book!
Comic Girls takes place in modern day Japan and revolves around four different high school manga authors. When Kaoruko Moeka, or Kaos-Sensei, feels as though she has hit a dead end in the world of serialization rejections, she decides that it would be best to move to a comic dorm to help her gain new skills and focus on her dreams of becoming a professional manga author. While she loves her 4-koma, slice-of-life, style. She has very little inspiration from her real life to draw from! Kaos-Sensei lacks communication and experiences with people, she overcomes her fear and social anxiety and begins to befriend her newest roommates. VIZ Media recently announced the latest additions to the multi-generational action adventure property with the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind anime and the Jojo's Bizare Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable live-action film.
When FLCL appeared in the early 2000s, the sci-fi backed coming-of-age story touched many an adolescent heart around the world. FLCL accomplished everything it set out to in a very tightly produced six episodes, and that was that. Fast-forward to 2018: FLCL: Progressive, the first of two sequels, has just finished airing - and it's not good.
The following contains spoilers for FLCL: Progressive. |
