New Macross Song Princess Audition Announced: "Macross X Sunrise Super-Dimension Song Princess Audition 2025"

The newest installment in the Macross franchise was first announced all the way back during the Walküre final tour titled “Walküre FINAL LIVE TOUR 2023 ~Last Mission~”. It's been quite a while since then, and there are some interesting new announcments made regarding it. While nothing new is known on the production side, there has been the announcement of an audition. Details on this audition, inlcuding how to enter, can be found below.

During ABEMA’s live broadcast of the “Macross X Sunrise New Animation Announcement Special”, it was announced that auditions for the next song princess in the new series will be held in 2025. Music production for the anime will be a collaborative effort by labels FlyingDog and Lantis (Bandai Namco Music Live).

Music for the new series will be produced by FlyingDog, who has headed music production for the franchise thus far, and Lantis (Bandai Namco Music Live), the producer of hit series LoveLive!. This powerful duo produced a brand new theme song for the auditions to be the next Macross song princess. The song "I to I" combines a sense of speed and passion, and with the catchy phrase "Hear this whole-hearted song!", it’s giving fans high hopes for the upcoming series.

Auditions will be accepted until Wednesday, April 30, 11:59 PM (JST). Those interested in auditioning can enter by uploading a video of oneself singing the song “I to I” to YouTube. The song is available to download for those interested in making derivative works such as dance or instrumental videos as well. Those uninterested in the audition are also welcome to participate.

Additionally, there will be videos uploaded every week of past Macross song princesses and special guests singing the theme song as part of a special campaign to promote the new series. The first video of the campaign features Minori Suzuki, winner of the Macross Delta song princess audition and voice of the heroine Freyja Wion. There will be more videos of special guests singing along to “I to I” released every week for everyone to enjoy.

Audition Information

Entry Period: Sunday, March 2, 2025–Wednesday, April 30, 2025 11:59 PM (JST)
Requirements: Female, must currently reside in Japan, between the ages of 13 and 25-years old (as of April 1, 2025)
※Those under 18 years of age must have permission from a guardian to enter.

Audition Process
<First Stage (Online Entry)>  Entry Form, Self-Introduction, Song

• Complete the designated entry form.
  
• Prepare photos and video for the audition (must be taken within the last three months).
• After uploading your cover of the audition song “I to I” to YouTube, enter the URL.
• The video may be uploaded publicly or privately.
• Provide one headshot and one full-length photo.

<Second Stage (Online Interview)> – End of June, 2025
<Final Stage (In-person Interview)> – End of July, 2025 (Tokyo)
