Fans of Bleach have cause to rejoice as the long-running series is set to make a comeback this Summer with a new live action film! If that wasn't big enough news for you, it was recently revealed that the role of Byakuya Kuchiki will be played by JRock star Miyavi! Bleach is a popular manga series that ran from 2001 to 2016 and follows Ichigo Kurosaki who gains the powers of a Soul Reaper (a Shinigami) and uses said powers to defend the world of the living from evil spirits known as Hollows. For those unaware of Miyavi, his real name is Takamasa Ishihara and he's a musician famous both in Japan and the world over. Besides music, both with the band Due le Quartz and solo, he took a step into acting in the 2014 Angeline Jolie film "Unbroken". He also had small roles in "Kong: Skull Island" and "Stray". The upcoming Bleach movie will be quite a change and it'll be interesting to see just how Miyavi portrays the role of Byakuya. Miyavi will be performing alongside Sota Fukushi and Hana Sugisaki who will be playing the characters Ichigo and Rukia respectively. A trailer for the movie has been released and can be seen below. Bleach has a release date set for July 20, 2018. Let's hope this live action production meets the expectations of fans of both the original source material and Miyavi! |
