Hot off the heels of the smashing success of Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami in North America and building on the buzz around the upcoming Yakuza 6: Song of Life, Sega is happy to announce Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be heading across the Pacific in August 2018! Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a ground up remake of Yakuza 2 from the PlayStation 2, similar to Yakuza Kiwami (see our review here), but this time entirely built in the Dragon Engine used for Yakuza 6. Upgrades include HD visuals, rerecorded dialog, and features seen in later Yakuza games added to it. Along with the upgrades will be gameplay featuring everyone favorite eye-patched mischief maker, Goro Majima, better expanding on what happened between the end of Kiwami and the start of Kiwami 2. I hope Kiwami 2 doing well in the west, along with the praise 0, Kiwami, and 6 are receiving, encourages Sega to think about remasters of the PlayStation 3 games for the PlayStation 4, or at least think about bringing some of the more silly spinoffs over. Either way, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is sure to please any fan of the series, and hopefully bring some new ones into the fold. -Janette G Yakuza Kiwami 2 is due out in North America August 28th, 2018 for the PlayStation 4. It is currently Rating Pending, with an expected M Rating upon release. For more information about the game and pre-orders it, please visit the Yakuza Kiwami 2 website. |
