Platforms: PC I'm a huge fan of Toho's Godzilla series, so I was shocked to learn that a new Godzilla game had somehow snuck past my G-Radar. Not only that, but this new title is a strategy game?! How did I miss this game getting announced? Was it even announced? I have no idea, but needless to say I had to pick it up. Enter Godzilla: Voxel Wars, out now exclusively on Steam at the time of this review. This is (I think) the first new Godzilla game since the hard-to-find 2014 game that came out on the PS4. It's a completely stand-alone release and not tied-in to any of the new Godzilla media. If anything it's more a love letter to the classic series, complete with an impressive roster of Kaiju, and a plot that is reminiscent of movies like Destroy All Monsters. I'm getting ahead of myself though, so it's time to check out the game and see if it continues to surprise me, or if it's actually something best left in the past like Godzilla's son Minya. Either way, let's dive into the game and find out!

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 5, PC I’m a sucker for an old-fashioned point and click adventure game, so I went into Life of Delta with some excitement. It’s a genre that is either done to emulate Myst, or meant to look super retro these days, so seeing one that is designed to have a gorgeous modern look was already a plus in my book. Does it hold up in the genre though? Let’s find out. By Manuel Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch Mystery Lover is a Chinese visual novel that originally released on Steam back on Halloween 2020. While the Steam version remains a Chinese-language only release, it recently released on the Nintendo Switch exactly three years later with a full English translation. It's a visual novel that features a mystery club investigating an urban myth regarding a murder involving a popular VTuber. The surprisingly deep story then explores the relationship between the characters, and in particular the main character and his girlfriend, Persephone. It's quite the game to describe in a few sentences, so if you want to know more you're going to have to read on to the full review! By Al Players: 1-30 (Online Only)
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC Are you a fan of rhythm games, but maybe want some sort of Fall Guys-type action in them? Well Headbangers: Rhythm Royale is (probably) the game you've been waiting for! Mixing together rhythm minigames like those found in the Rhythm Heaven series, with the wackiness found in a WarioWare game, and tossing in the added stakes of it being a battle royale, Headbangers is now out on consoles and PC and is a game that I've been wanting to play ever since I saw it on the Summer Nintendo Direct. Is it worth the wait? How does it stack up to other games in the respective genres? Are those pigeons in the game? Oh, and how exactly does a rhythm battle royale game work anyway? Well, we're going to dive into all that and more in this review! By Manuel Players: 1-2
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Atari VCS, PC Berzerk: Recharged is the latest title in Atari's Recharged series, a line of games that remakes classic titles in their back catalog with a few modern bells and whistles. This time around we get the twin stick shooter arcade classic that features the infamous "Evil Otto", a villain who I'm sure still haunts the dreams of gamers of a certain age. Evil Otto and all, Berzerk: Recharged is bouncing its way onto consoles and PC, and we're here to take a look at it and see if this is a game that will scratch the retro itch, while also providing an experience that will draw in new players unfamiliar with the original game it's remaking. Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 My Time at Sandrock, the sequel to My Time at Portia, is finally here. As one of Sandrock’s two new Builders, players will find themselves collecting every last bit of scraps and supplies to construct tools, machines and odds and ends for both themselves and the citizens. What should have been a soft and smooth sequel is instead coarse, rough, and irritating. But if you can overlook these issues, there is still a compelling game here. The Turok series helped establish what a console FPS could be back on the Nintendo 64, and Nightdive Studios recently revealed details for a remake of the third game in the series, Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered! Details on the release can be found below!

Platforms: PC How long does one expect to get a real feel for a game? Minutes? An hour? Two hours? Well, at least in my experience, if I'm not turned on to a game within the first couple of hours I will just stop playing altogether. Apparently Steam thinks the same, which is why they have the return policy that they do. Fellowship is the first roguelite game that I have been unable to even sit through. It's a slog, and that's a problem going forward. Most roguelites are fast paced, even if they may not seem that way at first. Some even have good music attached to them. Fellowship, on the other hand, has potential to be good. It has many RPG elements that make the game stand out from other titles within the genre. It takes way more than the two hour minimum to even feel a real sense of accomplishment. Here are my first impressions of Fellowship, and my hope that the developer improves on their current foundation. |
