Every now and then, a band comes out of Japan whose music practically screams "yes, we listen to Number Girl". While such bands as ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION and Kinoko Teikoku have found varying levels of success in the West, it's not often that we get to hear a fresh take on the melancholy, nostalgic indie rock of the late 90s. Enter: Cider Girl. Cider Girl is a very new band, having showed up sometime in the last couple years. They've released a string of mini-albums in 2016, the fourth of which will be out early November. Musically, the band sounds much more than a little bit like Number Girl. They released their third mini-album Diorama Insider earlier this month, and will be putting out their fourth (Diorama Outsider) on November 8th. While I'm sure Diorama Outsider will be great, it has the unfortunate challenge of releasing in the same week as Kinoko Teikoku's upcoming fourth full-length album. Best of luck to Cider Girl!
