PIKOTARO & NFT Artist Zombie Zoo Keeper Release Collaboration Music Video

Japanese singer-songwriter PIKOTARO collaborated with 9-year-old NFT artist Zombie Zoo Keeper to create a new music video which was recently released on YouTube.

Along with the premiere of the MV an NFT art collection from the music video, known as “PikoZoo” project, launched on the newly established L.A.-based NFT platform “OP3N” on April 26. The MV "Zombie Zoo to PIKOTARO DESU" can be viewed below.

PIKOTARO became an instant viral sensation with his viral hit "PPAP", which has accumulated nearly 1 billion views on YouTube in its original version and various remixes and adaptations. PIKOTARO's international collaborations include works with Pikachu, Ryuk from Death Note, and Ryan's World. Zombie Zoo Keeper has recorded a total transaction value of 111ETH (45 million yen) for his "Zombie Zoo" NFT art collection.

The new music video – "Zombie Zoo to PIKOTARO DESU" – by Zombie Zoo Family x PIKOTARO – has lyrics written by PIKOTARO and Zombie Zoo Keeper's mother, vocalist Emi Kusano (aka Emi Satellite). Emi leads the "Shinsei Galverse", whose collection of the first 8888 NFTs was ranked #1 on OpenSea, the world's largest NFT marketplace recently.

Produced by KOSAKA DAIMAOU, the song features music by PIKOTARO and vocals by all three creators. The music video was directed by Australian influencer Wengie, who has achieved a following of almost 30 million subscribers. The video features pop animation of PIKOTARO dancing with characters drawn by Zombie Zoo Keeper as part of his 16bit metaverse, where his Zombie Zoo animations live.

PIKOTARO
"PPAP" ("Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen"), released on YouTube in August 2016, created a storm with Justin Bieber, CNN, and the BBC among other media featuring the song. 

The original version of "PPAP" has achieved over 147 million views on YouTube, making PIKOTARO a worldwide sensation, and the song’s multiple versions have amassed nearly 1 billion views combined. He holds the record as the only Japanese artist to date to hit #1 on the YouTube Global music video chart, staying at the top for 3 weeks in a row. He also received the Guinness World Record in 2016 for the “Shortest song to enter the Billboard Hot 100”.

He is also a SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, releasing his hand washing song "PPAP-2020" amidst the rise of COVID-19.
