Akane Kumada Releases “Another Self” Single & Lyric Video for “Take My Chance”

On September 6 voice actress/artist Akane Kumada released her latest single “Another Self”, the ending theme song to the anime series Classroom for Heroes. Details on that release, and a new lyric mV, can be found below!

While sticking to the world view of the anime, “Another Self” fully reflects Akane Kumada’s current state of mind and her understanding that facing oneself and accepting one’s weaknesses is a source of growth. It is an ambitious song with a relaxed tempo that features the latest pop sounds combined with a Lantisesque sound from the past. In addition, the single includes “Take My Chance” featuring Kaede Higuchi, who sings the anime’s opening theme song.

In conjunction with the release, a lyric video for “Take My Chance” has also been released. This marks the first-ever appearance of Akane Kumada as an illustrated character in a music video, especially created for this song. The new MV for the song can be viewed below.

Akane Kumada Profile
Akane Kumada’s career kicked off when she won the Grand Prix at the Anisong Stars audition in 2017. After that, she went on to voice Ichiko Oda in Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga, Ellen in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Mina in Drugstore in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist, and Hibiki Morishima in Healer Girl.

In January 2020, she voiced Ichiko Oda, one of the main characters in Cinnamon Nobunaga, and made her debut as an artist with the opening theme song “Sunny Sunny Girl.” Since then, she has sung the opening theme songs for several other popular works, including The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Super Cub, and Drugstore in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist, as well as the ending theme song for Kizuna Taikan TV: Mobile Suit Gundam Dai-07 Itakura Shoutai ~Yuku Kizuna Kuru Kizuna~. In recent years, she has been active in not only anime, but also a wide range of other activities, including regular appearances on radio programs and TV variety shows.
