Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Atari VCS, PC Berzerk: Recharged is the latest title in Atari's Recharged series, a line of games that remakes classic titles in their back catalog with a few modern bells and whistles. This time around we get the twin stick shooter arcade classic that features the infamous "Evil Otto", a villain who I'm sure still haunts the dreams of gamers of a certain age. Evil Otto and all, Berzerk: Recharged is bouncing its way onto consoles and PC, and we're here to take a look at it and see if this is a game that will scratch the retro itch, while also providing an experience that will draw in new players unfamiliar with the original game it's remaking.

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, XBox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 My Time at Sandrock, the sequel to My Time at Portia, is finally here. As one of Sandrock’s two new Builders, players will find themselves collecting every last bit of scraps and supplies to construct tools, machines and odds and ends for both themselves and the citizens. What should have been a soft and smooth sequel is instead coarse, rough, and irritating. But if you can overlook these issues, there is still a compelling game here. The Turok series helped establish what a console FPS could be back on the Nintendo 64, and Nightdive Studios recently revealed details for a remake of the third game in the series, Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered! Details on the release can be found below!

Platforms: PC How long does one expect to get a real feel for a game? Minutes? An hour? Two hours? Well, at least in my experience, if I'm not turned on to a game within the first couple of hours I will just stop playing altogether. Apparently Steam thinks the same, which is why they have the return policy that they do. Fellowship is the first roguelite game that I have been unable to even sit through. It's a slog, and that's a problem going forward. Most roguelites are fast paced, even if they may not seem that way at first. Some even have good music attached to them. Fellowship, on the other hand, has potential to be good. It has many RPG elements that make the game stand out from other titles within the genre. It takes way more than the two hour minimum to even feel a real sense of accomplishment. Here are my first impressions of Fellowship, and my hope that the developer improves on their current foundation. By Al Players: 1
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC Video game remakes aren't anything new, but what about remakes that come out only two years after the original? Metal Max Xeno Reborn is a remake of 2018's Metal Max Xeno that originally released in Japan in 2018 and 2022 in the West courtesy of PQube Entertainment. The original version dropped on the PS4 and PS Vita, and its remake skips the Vita in favor of the Nintendo Switch, and adds PC to the mix too. Does this remake deserve to exist considering it not only came out quickly, but is also available on the same platform as the original? What changes or additions are there that might make it worth picking up a second time? What exactly is the Metal Max series? We'll take a look at these questions, and lots more, in this review. So let's dive into post-apocalyptic Tokyo and find out! By J.D. Players: 1
Platforms: PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest, Steam VR (Disclaimer: Just as I was finishing the game for review, a new patch was released that may have addressed some of the issues I bring up in the review. Also, in general, VR experiences may vary wildly between people and setups.) After first gracing computers in April 1993, classic adventure game The 7th Guest has received a VR remake courtesy of Vertigo Games. While adventure games have evolved a lot in the last 30 years, this new take shows that this game got its classic status for a reason. |
