It was recently revealed that Cheeky Parade will be disbanding on July 31, 2018. The group currently has five members, with two studying abroad, and the announcement also gave the detail that the final live will see the participation of seven members. Cheeky Parade formed in February 2012 as part of the iDOL Street collective that also includes SUPER GIRLS and Wa-suta. They made their major debut January 2013 and have been very active since. Longtime readers of A-to-J Connections might recall that we interviewed the group back in 2015 during their appearance at Japan Expo LA. That interview can be found HERE.
More details regarding their final concert are still to be revealed as well as the activities of the members post Cheeky Parade. Messages from the group can be read HERE. This announcement comes after the announcement of the disbandment of other iDOL Street group, GEM as well as talk of a shuffle within iDOL Street itself. Fans of "Chikipa" (as they are known to their fans) still have a couple months to support the group so let's make these last days great! -Manuel (alavic_222) |
