AKB48's Anna Iriyama to Star In Mexican Telenovela

A while back fans of AKB48 were shocked and surprised when the announcement dropped that the idol group would be putting on of its members into a starring role in a Mexican telenovela titled "LIKE". Well, today we finally have a few more details about this collaboration!

Team A member Iriyama Anna announced via her Twitter yesterday that she was chosen for the role and would also spend a year studying abroad. Iriyama's character will be one that speaks neither English nor Spanish and the series itself will be played as a comedy with a story that revolves around music, with additional stand-alone concerts and performances featuring songs from the telenovela in the works.

The show also will feature actors and locations from all around the world including the United States, Spain, Columbia, Brazil, Mexico, Isreal, and Japan. Music will also play a large part in the series as the producer of the show is none other then Pedro Damian who is famous for his work on shows "Clase 406" and "Rebelde", two popular teen shows that also featured music prominently.

The series will get it's first single, also titled "LIKE", in April with the show itself debuting on September 3. We look forward to bringing you more regarding this news very soon!
