Power Morphicon 2016 has come and gone but the event is still fresh in my mind. I got the chance to attend the convention this year and I can truly say it's been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I want to thank Polo, the guitarist for Eyeshine (which is the band of Mighty Morphin Power Ranger alum, Johnny Yong Bosh), for giving us this amazing opportunity. Power Morphicon is a convention that is dedicated to everything Power Rangers and Super Sentai. It happens every other year at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena California. Dozens of former and current actors who have played a Power Ranger or have been involved with the show gather together to meet fans and talk about the shows that they have worked on. We even get to see some of the actors who played a Ranger in the Japanese Super Sentai counterpart shows! The show is also dedicated to showcasing a ton of new toys that will be available soon and lots of older toys perfect for collecting. There are dozens of vendors lined up selling exclusives, rare, common, and one-of-a-kind toys from both the US and Japan. I even managed to buy a Gaburevolver, the henshin gun from Kyoryuger. We also got to see toys from Bandai of America that are upcoming for the end of the current season of Dino Charge and the upcoming season, Ninja Steel. In the end I spent a lot more money than I anticipated. A lesson to those planning on attending in 2018, I would recommend that you save at least $100-$150 at a bare minimum, but more if you’re a hardcore fan. I guarantee you will find tons of items you would want. I had a blast at this year’s show and I look forward to attending the next one. Below I have included a mix of random pictures from the show ranging from new toys, to vendors, to cosplayers, and more including the fun Eyeshine performance. Thanks again go to Polo and Eyeshine. -Nestor |
