Codomo Dragon - Kono Sekai Owari Da Single Review

Codomo Dragon bring in a new single of dynamic songs just in time for the spring season. Titled “Kono Sekai Owari Da”, this new release lives up to their trademark style of mixing dark topics with vibrant overtones, with the following tracks sounding just as exciting.

The title track, “Kono Sekai Owari Da”, mixes fast-paced drumming and gritty guitar rhythms, along with vocalist Hayato providing some intense growling that sets up a compelling tone. In contrast to the ominous theme of the song, the music video features the members dressed in colorful costumes in a similar vibrant setting accompanied by bright lights. There are few glimpses of eerie images that really capture the theme of “The End of the World”, making the video rather eye-catching.

The second track, “Yamayama”, almost follows the same style as the previous track, but with a slightly slower tempo. The song starts with a ringing aggressiveness that switches to an upbeat and jumpy chorus where all the members yell together. The exhilaration of the song combined with enthusiastic vocals from all of the members is sure to get fans pumped up at lives.
 
The C-track song, “butterfly”, leans towards the mellow side. Hearing the echoes of sliding guitar rhythms, I’m reminded of their song “Warugaki”. The song is seconds short of 3 minutes, but it is still pleasant to listen to. It is definitely a fun-sized length!
 
Lastly, the D-track song, “Henshokuka”, gives bassit meN-meN and drummer Chamu the chance to show off their skills with fast-tempo strumming and slamming that brings out the playful side in Codomo Dragon. It generates a feeling to jump and swing your arms along to without a care in world, making the song an ecstatic source of thrilling energy.
