Miura Ayme is a musician, a voice actor, a cosplay, and more. He started his music career in 2018 and local fans might recognize him as the official cosplayer for the otome game "Obey Me!", from "Shall We Date?", at Anime Expo 2019. He's more than a cosplayer for the game though, he also provides the voice for the character "Asmodeus" and provides the game's theme song, "Sinful Indulgence". There's lots more to discuss regarding his career, and we were lucky to do just that with him personally at Anime Weekend Atlanta! We covered topics like his varied career, favorite games and anime, his VTuber activities, and lots more. If you're a fan of Miura Ayme, or discovering him for the first time, then there's probably some aspect from his varied career that you'll enjoy! Check out the interview, give his music a listen, and be sure to follow him via the links following the interview! A-to-J: Thank you for the interview! Can you please give us an introduction and tell us a little about yourself? Miura Ayme: My name is Miura Ayme. I’m a visual kei artist, voice actor and cosplayer. I do a lot of different things. A-to-J: You're a musician, voice actor, cosplayer, and more. Can you tell us a bit about how you got into such a varied career? Miura Ayme: Originally, I was a musician and then, I started cosplay as a hobby. Eventually, that grow into its own form. I also took an audition for voice acting and passed so then, I got into voice acting as well. A-to-J: Is there any facet of your career that you feel is most central to you? Miura Ayme: I would say I’m mainly a musician. I create songs. I’m still an artist and doing that today. A-to-J: You have a pretty extensive solo music career; can you tell us a bit about your style and sound? Miura Ayme: My genre is Visual Kei. As far as the specific types of songs, I tend to make whatever I want to make in the moment so it’s very hard to pinpoint a specific type or style for my music. A-to-J: We understand that you write all your own material. Can you tell us a bit about your songwriting process? Miura Ayme: Usually, my process is coming up with the melodies from memory. I’m sometimes humming it and will work it out from there. When I’m asked to make a specific type of song, I’ll follow the guidelines given to me. My process is very logical in that I follow a very similar routine each time I’m asked to make a song and cover all the technical aspects. A-to-J: You performed several songs for the otome game "Obey Me!" can you tell us about these songs in particular and how they tie in with the game? Miura Ayme: For the songs for the game, I got the lyrics ahead of time and was asked to make a song that fit the lyrics. The song “Sinful Indulgence” was made in such a fashion. There are two other songs though. For “Celestial Ray”, I made both the lyrics and the song itself so I did my best to tie it into the game. The other song, “Loveless”, was a song I originally made completely unrelated to the game but the creator loved the song and wanted to bring it into the game.
A-to-J: Many overseas fans know you for your work on this game, are you a fan of the title? Miura Ayme: Of course. I love Satan. He’s the best. A-to-J: You also voice the character, Asmodeus; do you find any element of yourself in the character? Miura Ayme: There are parts that are like me, like my style, and I’m able to regard these things as beautiful, but I would never become such a narcissist. A-to-J: Are you a fan of other otome, or maybe general visual novel, titles? Miura Ayme: Yes. I like "Ensemble Stars" and "Twisted Wonderland". A-to-J: Besides the music you provided for Obey Me!, what are some of your favorite songs in your catalog and why? Miura Ayme: I love all my songs but recently, one of my songs I really like is “Eliminator”. "Eliminator" MVA-to-J: You also livestream as a VTuber that is modeled on you. Can you tell us a bit about this?
Miura Ayme: Originally, it was the feeling of “I want to become an anime character myself” and that’s something you can definitely do as a VTuber. Most VTubers, their characters are completely different from themselves. For me, I wanted to make a character that was part of me and bring that part out in my VTuber personality. A-to-J: You have done many gameplay streams recently, what are some of your favorite video games? Do you have a favorite genre? Miura Ayme: I love horror games like "Resident Evil". I've played "Five Nights at Freddy’s", the first one, it’s really exciting. I also like "Dead by Daylight". A-to-J: You've appeared in many overseas events over the past few years, what's it like meeting such a widely differing group of fans? Miura Ayme: Yeah, there are some differences in each country I visit but no matter where I go, everyone is really welcoming, telling me, “We’ve been waiting for you.” Some of the differences deal with the local culture or how people enjoy the live performances. A-to-J: We're at AWA now, and you've also made appearances at other anime conventions, are you a fan of anime in general? If so, which ones? Miura Ayme: It’s an old series: "Gunbuster". Have you heard of it? A-to-J: Oh yes! You have lots to do already but what are some of your favorite hobbies you partake in in your free time? Miura Ayme: Escape rooms. They're very big in Japan. A-to-J: Do you have any fun activities planned for this particular trip? Miura Ayme: I want to go to the World of Coca-Cola but I don’t know where it is. A-to-J: I don’t think it’s that far from here... What are some of your upcoming plans after AWA? Miura Ayme: Next month, I’ll be going to Anime Festival Asia in Singapore. A-to-J: Lastly, can you give a closing message to your fans? Miura Ayme: I love you, baby!
