This past weekend, Anime Los Angeles held their amazing convention at the Ontario Convention Center! They brought along lots of fun, cosplay, music and most importantly fashion to Southern California! The fashion show was held on Saturday afternoon (Day Three) of the con. It was super entertaining and eventful to watch the many brands, designers, and models that participated this year! All of the runway models were extremely amazing to watch. The clothes they wore included lots of cosplay fashion, Harajuku fashion, and various streetwear! Our good friend Ivan Aburto lent us his amazing photography to share with you all! Take a look at the various looks from this year’s ALA Fashion Show!!! If you would like to view more of the models from the ALA Fashion Show 2018, please feel free to check out Ivan’s public album here: http://bit.ly/2nJ7kSC

Many people both old and new showed up in their favorite J-Fashion inspired coords showing us a variety and abundance of creativity! Monique Lee (host of Harajuku Day) showed off her super cute DIY calendar project. Fun prints from the December meetup were available to put together your own scrapbook in cute little binders that were also provided. They also brought along cute tiny calendar months and note sheets so you can plan and talk about your coords for future events! We super loved this idea and thought it was very well put together. Happy New Year! Harajuku Day recently held their exciting Christmas meetup on December 23rd! Which also happened to be their last meet of 2017! This year flew by pretty fast but Harajuku Day was successfully able to keep up, holding an exciting meet-up every single month! We loved to see them grow throughout one of the toughest years. This meet was very intimate, small, with lots of love fulfilling the Christmas spirit down to a T! Check out some fun photos from the last meet of 2017!:
Usual photographer Marc Amba and Harajuku Day host Monique! We recently had the opportunity to have a short interview with Kamilah Jones, better known as Hard Decora! Kamilah Jones is the owner of badass kawaii fashion brand "Hard Decora", they are a local artist vending at many well known anime conventions including this year’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles. They recently held a pop up shop and exhibition at the famous galaxxxy shop in Tokyo, Japan. They also had the awesome opportunity to model for ACDC Rag Harajuku! We asked a few questions regarding their exciting experience! Check it out:
Our amazing friends in Harajuku Day recently had their two year anniversary this past November 18th! Celebrating two whole years of wholesome fun and fashion has not only been an amazing experience for everyone that has attended but also an exciting monthly event that our staff here at A-to-J looks forward to going to every time! It’s filled with glamour, photoshoots, friends, food, love, and of course every type of Harajuku style you can think of! We are glad to have seen them grow into a very successful group and cannot wait to see what exciting plans they hold in the future!
We are glad to thank event coordinators and the master minds behind Harajuku Day, Monique Lea, Laarnie Barcelon, and John Woo! This month’s Outfit of the Month #4 landed on Harajuku Day’s two year anniversary! (Article coming soon!). This month’s outfit was more of my classic style. The beautiful skirt is from ACDC Rag, purchased at Anime Expo 2017. Absolutely love their clothing!!! Crop top is from Forever 21 and shoes are from YRU!
I totally love this skirt. It can clip and unclip from the sides. A super steal at Anime Expo! Can not wait to have ACDC Rag hopefully come back! A closer look at my makeup can be seen on my instagram @cinna_make -Kaz All photos are by Ivan Aburto Hello all!!! This month’s outfit was for the Halloween Harajuku Day meetup! Very last minute choices here but I made it work. A super DIY Iryou-Kei outfit inspired by medical paraphernalia worn by some Visual-Kei bands. Thank you at @alpacqueen and @kirakirakarakasa for helping me create this outfit! The white top is my old button up shirt from my Grell Sutcliff cosplay splattered with some Rite Aid brand spray on blood I bought during the Halloween season. Mini skirt is courtesy of @alpacqueen which I bought from her during Anime Expo! The blood covered striped tights are from the 99c Store. Yes! The 99c Store!!! And they’re good quality too! Shoes are the same ones I wore for my last OOTM. (Bought at the Chinatown swap meet.) The wig is from AliExpress with a headband from my local Rite Aid store!
-Kaz Hello all!!!
This outfit of the month is super different for me. I did my first pastel/ decora look inspired by one of Harajuku Day’s coordinators Monique Lea! I felt so different, no one recognized me and I honestly barely recognized myself. It was cute overall! Though, I think I’ll stick to darker styles since it feels more like myself. It was amazing to try something new regardless!!! The cute long pink shirt is from a little booth deep inside the Chinatown swap meet, and so are my clear glitter platforms! The wig I’m wearing is from Ali Express I believe and the choker, and hair bows are from Melanie Martinez’s line sold at Hot Topic. My cute star ring is courtesy of my friend Bethany who makes the cutest jewelry and art! I hope you all enjoy this unique outfit!!! -Kaz Hello all! This month’s Harajuku Day meetup consisted of a short field trip to Chinatown and lots of fun shopping! It was hot weather, so I did my best to wear something cool but as you all know me, I don’t own anything but black. To add to that, I decided to treat myself for a bit of back to school shopping and bought this AMAZING Sex Pot Revenge dress from Fickle Wish (located inside the Little Tokyo Plaza). It’s my first self-bought SPR piece as well! Which I’m super proud of because as we all know this brand can get a bit more than expensive. Its long, comfortable and flowy! Plus the crescent moon in the center happens to match my new tattoo. I absolutely love it. The shoes are my super old Demonia boots thats I haven’t worn in what seems about a year. They’re tall, and a tiny bit uncomfortable in the long run. (I had to buy some smaller replacement shoes from the Chinatown swap-meet later in the day). Sad to say, but they are even more uncomfortable that my giant YRU Platform Heels. I think this might be my most comfy outfit to date! Please check out some photos below and make sure to follow my makeup Instagram page for closeups and details! @cinna_make
(Photo by John Woo) Sorry for the lack of updates once again! Continuing the Visual Kei inspired series, I decided to do an eye look based off of Meto’s makeup from the Raven PV
