 Anime Expo's much smaller sibling, anime expo chibi, returned to the Ontario Convention Center recently and the much smaller version to SPJA's big industry event still brings guests from all over to experience two days of convention awesomeness. AX means cosplayers, and there were a lot of amazing ones we spotted over the weekend. Per usual we are here to provide a small sampling of some that we spotted on Saturday, Day One. This two-day convention has been continuing to grow over the past few years and it regularly sees some amazing cosplayers attend. We've had a long history with this con, and have attended as guests and panelists since its earliest days. We were were happy to attend its 2023 event, which was once again held at the Terasaki Budokan. Even though this is a smaller local event, there were several amazing cosplayers that we spotted during our time there. All photos by Ivan Aburto  Yashafluff, also known as Yasha, is a cosplayer that has been active for over ten years, and is a strong believer of cosplay being a fun hobby that can be enjoyed by everyone no matter their level of skill. Her cosplays have been seen in several official capacities from companies like Yostar and HoYoverse, and she is known within the community for her high level of accuracy when it comes to portraying the characters she's cosplaying. While she's an accomplished cosplayer, her true specialties like in cosplay makeup and wig styling, topics which has hosted panels on. We were lucky enough to catch up to her recently at FanimeCon in San Jose and we discussed her start in cosplay, the struggles of attending events while being a full-time student, her viral encounter with Yoko Taro, and lots more!
