With such gems as Space Patrol Luluco and Kiznaiver, Spring 2016 was a pretty well-rounded and entertaining season overall. What's in store for Summer? Our top picks are below, presented in alphabetical order. BananyaGENRE: Comedy (short-form) STUDIO: Gathering PREMISE: Based on the popular Q-Lia mascot, this anime follows the exploits the eponymous Bananya, a cat who lives in a banana. The official synopsis claims that Bananya's dream is to become a "stylish" chocolate banana. We hope he achieves it! AIR DATE: July 4th Berserk (2016)GENRE: Fantasy Action/Adventure STUDIO: Millepensee, GEMBA PREMISE: An adaptation of the beloved classic manga and a sequel to the original anime adaptation of said manga. Guts, the Black Swordsman, combats demons in his quest for vengeance following the events of the 90s anime of the same name. AIR DATE: July 1st New Game!GENRE: Slice-of-Life Comedy STUDIO: Doga Kobo PREMISE: Suzukaze Aoba is a high school graduate trying to make a career as a video game developer. Her senior at the game company is the developer of a game that Aoba loved as a child. AIR DATE: July 4th OrangeGENRE: Drama, Supernatural Slice-of-Life, School Life STUDIO: Telecom Animation Film PREMISE: Student Naho Takamiya recieves letters from her future self, detailing the events of present-day Naho's day. Future Naho reveals that she has many regrets and is sending the letters in order to make up for past mistakes. AIR DATE: July 4th ReLIFEGENRE: Drama, Slice-of-Life, Romance STUDIO: TMS Entertainment PREMISE: 27-year-old Kaizaki Arata, unable to find a job, is offered an experimental drug which can give him the appearance of being 17 again and relive his high school life. AIR DATE: July 1st Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan / The Disastrous Life of Saiki KusuoGENRE: Supernatural Comedy, School Life STUDIO: J.C.Staff, Egg Firm PREMISE: Saiki Kusuo possesses a large number of incredible superpowers, such as telepathy and telekinesis. Deciding that these powers are more annoying than helpful, he tries to live a normal life in spite of them. AIR DATE: July 4th Shokugeki no Souma season 2 / Food Wars! The Second PlateGENRE: Comedy, Cooking, School Life STUDIO: J.C.Staff PREMISE: Following the previous season of Food Wars!, Souma Yukihara continues his education at the prestigious Toutsuki Culinary Academy.
