New author, Kina Kobayashi, makes her debut as a mangaka with Nanashi no Asterism, or Nameless Asterism! While this manga has been published since 2015 in Japan, our friends at Seven Seas Publishing have brought it over for everyone to read! Please look forward to reading and collecting all 5 volumes of Nanashi no Asterism! Tsukasa is an air-headed tomboy who loves soccer, Nadeshiko is a stoic girl in the Astronomy Club, and Mikage is a peppy girl with who loves shopping, karaoke, and boys! They are inseparable, but they are all hiding secrets from one another… In Nameless Asterism, we encounter a love story and slice-of-life between 3 high schoolers who are all battling their personal feelings and the want to maintain their stable close bond. Tsukasa finds herself head over heels for Nadeshiko, Nadeshiko has a crush on Mikage, and neither of them want to express this and ruin what could be a life-long friendship! Could these hidden secrets break apart their strong friendship? I was fortunate enough to read the first two volumes and with my adoration for shoujo, romance, and slice-of-life titles, I was excited to get to read such a fun manga! The art style is very cute and conveys both the feelings of slice of life and shoujo simply through the decoration and character design in each of the panels. We also get to meet Tsukasa’s cross-dressing and sentai loving brother, Subaru! Ever protective of Tsukasa, he starts to feel anxious and angry when his sister decides to go on a date with another boy from his school, named Kyousuke. While this excites her friends that Tsukasa is going on a date at all, she starts to fear the idea of trying to fake her feelings for this strange boy… Overall, this manga really does a fun job introducing love within the friend’s group and each character has interesting quirks and style. While the style of the manga does remind me a little bit of Tayou no Ie, I feel happy and excited to see where the next three volumes will take me! I also hope that Kobayashi-sensei will write more manga in the future, because her style and storytelling ability are really enjoyable. -Swittx Pros: +Cute Art & Character Design +Interesting plot progression +Not a long total length. (There are only 5 Volumes total!) Cons: -Slightly predictable -Still being released overseas, so you will have to wait to read volumes 3-5. Overall, I give this…. 🌸 4 out of 5 sakura petals~ 🌸 Note: This item was provided to us by the publisher for the purpose of this review.
