All photos by Ivan Aburto Anime Los Angeles is one of A-to-J's favorite cons and it is well known for bringing together some of the best cosplayers from all over California and beyond! ALA 2017 was no exception. Held at the Ontario Convention Center and the Ontario Airport Radisson the con held several cosplay gatherings and many of the 9,000+ guests were sporting some of the best cosplays that we have ever seen! Here is a sampling of some of those cosplays courtesy of some of our good friends, Marc Amba, Ivan Aburto, and John Woo, three of the best cosplay photographers you'll ever meet. Check out the gallery below and we hope to bring you similar galleries from future events/conventions! Fresh off of AX's Fashion Show, she sat down with Heidi and Tiffany and discussed everything from cosplay, the differences of conventions in Japan and the US, and learning what toppings are for a pizza! Be sure to check it out! (Note: Full video of the interview can be found at the very bottom following the text!)
Akira Itsuki is a cosplayer from Japan whose activities include regular appearances in shows in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia, Russia, Spain and more. Her high-quality, accurate cosplays have won her many fans around the world. Outside of cosplay, she debuted as part of the cosplay idol trio "Panache!" in 2012 under Sony. After the group broke up in 2013 she became a solo singer and has held solo performances in Hong Kong, Thailand, and Japan. Anime Expo was her first US appearance as well as her first modeling experience. She modeled the brand galaxxxy at Anime Expo's Fashion Show. This past weekend popular Japanese cosplayer, REIKA, was invited to San Francisco as a Guest of Honor for this year's SF Anime & Cosplay Festival. The event took place in Japantown in the Peace Plaza between the Japantown East & West Malls. Huge crowds filled the area for all the events that involved REIKA and her Q&A Panel was no different. There was not a single empty seat and every free space was taken. A-To-J Connections Project Lead, alavic_222 was in attendance and took the opportunity to film the panel in its entirety. The camera was locked tight, but below are some pictures of those who were lucky enough to have their questions answered. Many questions were answered and REIKA's advice to a fan who wanted advice as to a career in cosplay was worth the price of admission alone. This question is the final one in case you are curious and takes up a large portion of the panel. Here's hoping that all fans of REIKA are able to catch her at a convention or event near you as she was a pleasure to meet and one of the best guests an event could ever hope to have. The complete video of the panel in its entirety can be viewed below. If you are interested in REIKA you can follow her via social media and her official site. Links can be found below.
